See, that makes sense, until you consider the size of Lemmy. Even if they were 100% successful, this will only be seen by a few thousand people max, which wouldn’t amount to much. My current hypothesis is that the people doing this are simply stupid.
It worked to convince the most anti-communist conservatives to like Putin 15 years ago with tough guy shirtless memes about how you gotta respect his ability to lead people. Sure, why wouldn’t it work again?
I think it’s more to do with that if the collective workers vote to become a union or not, and succeeds in that vote, then the owner/company must recognize them as the union and engage in negotiations as such.
If the vote of the workers fails to choose to unionize…well usually that means the people who tried to organize it get fired because there’s no union
