Hey, I was just thinking… You should get the Ublue guys to try tour project. I think IT aligns greatly with their goals. Bazzite has scripts that install sunshine and everything they do is containerized. Maybe they could ship a script to install GOW.
Maybe a little late to reply but I use steamtinkerlaunch. You can set it as a compatibility tool and it’ll open a menu whenever you use it that’ll have an option to install/open Mod Organizer 2. Manually modding does work but I can’t remember exactly how I used to do it since it was a few years ago and I’m sure things have changed since.
I’d recommend getting a good quality Bluetooth adapter known to work well in Linux. Even a decent one shouldn’t be expensive. Avoid combo BT/wifi sticks.
I’ll add I installed it on my OLED deck, and no obvious issues stand out. Chucked nix on it with the Determinate Nix Installer and deployed my Pipewire EQ and vkBasalt configs without issue (and without some of the audio output issues that SteamOS introduced with the 3.5 update). Oh and vkBasalt comes installed OOTB, which solves some maintenance annoyances with keeping it working on SteamOS.
Steam game mode UI feels slightly snappier, perhaps down to using the BORE CPU scheduler (but it could be placebo of course).
Dowloaded it, its not perfect but the hdr makes it worth it so im backing away from x11. Im getting slight fps drops that dont seem to relate to the steam fps counter. I heard it messes with mozilla firefox, but havent seen much evidence.
Great update hope they catch the last things as well, i might be paranoid for the slight chopiness, since im playing cyberpunk and that game still has alot of problems even at the end of its lifecycle.
Ok after a bit of using, i can confirm that wayland crashes pretty often especially on firefox, also gaming performance degrades over time (still looking into it)
Im confident that plasma Wayland worked before but for a couple weeks now plasma itself is black after i updated. but other programs do start up and can be seen but because plasma is black its unusable. im just looking for when it works again.
The symptoms I got was like when a Windows app crashes and does this “Solitaire” effect. It did that with the mouse pointer and everything else. Windows, taskbars and menus all displayed as outlines only with no icons or decorations inside. It was weird.
I had this issue when I was using -F fsr, you could try disabling that if you’re using it. I also have to do ENABLE_HDR_WSI=0, since I have that enabled for MPV but setting it to 1 makes Gamescope break.
My current launch options are ENABLE_HDR_WSI=0 DXVK_HDR=1 gamescope -f -H 2160 --force-grab-cursor --hdr-enabled --hdr-debug-force-output --hdr-itm-enable – env MANGOHUD=1 %command%. I may also have ENABLE_GAMESCOPE_WSI=1 set as well, you could try that.
Using NixOS with Linux 6.8, Plasma 6.1, gamescope-wsi_git, and an RX 7600.
Looking at the Nix package, it seems like it just enables the Meson flag “enable_gamescope_wsi_layer” and adds the package “vulkan-headers” to the build inputs. Looking at the AUR package it uses vulkan-headers but idk what meson flags it uses.
one of the few hurdles gaming on linux hasnt fully managed to climb over is modding gamebryo games. Mostly because the mod managers themselves are a pita.
