thedeadwalking4242 , in Which distro is the right one for me?

I second everyone else dont use manjaro. As someone who was in a similar position to you, I started with mint just to toy around with it. Personally I’d recommended fedora, or Ubuntu (fedora over Ubuntu). I didnt stick with mint long though, eventually I just took the deep dive and installed arch as my daily driver which I wouldnt recommend unless you have time and energy to tinker with what us broken. If your uncomfortable with using Linux full time try duel booting that way you have windows as a back up system in case you bork something. If you have any questions feel free to DM me. And remember flatpak is the linux beginners best friend.

Drito , in Which distro is the right one for me?

Clear Linux looks very performant which is interesting for gaming. And it provides choice between DEs !

amminadabz , in What is your preferred daily driver distribution?

I’m pretty happy on Ultramarine. Its like Fedora but with more repos by default, media drivers, more DE options, and a bunch of more reasonable defaults for daily all-purpose use.

flashgnash , in What is your preferred daily driver distribution?

Nixos. Can’t even fathom going back to anything after getting to grips with it

westyvw , in Recommendations for a Linux system backup tool

I hate being that guy that says “why are you doing that” instead of providing solutions, but since you already have Nswers, I am just too curious.

Arch does not seem like the kind of distro to run from a live state (or a static state of the install media). Talk about an OS that really works best with updating.

So, what am I missing here?

merthyr1831 , in What is your preferred daily driver distribution?

I use Manjaro but I might switch when CosmicDE launches on Pop!, especially if they get graphics switching working nicely on Wayland.

Are you already using something like ventoy, or do you refrain from using another usb stick?

Try this journalctl -xb -u cronie. It will show you any errors

leo , (edited ) in Can't get crontab to run backup script properly

Cron does not like dots in the filename of your script. Does it work if it is just “backup” instead of “backup.sh”?
