Up till now I’ve been running Debian on a 2008 Dell tower as my homeserver. I just got 2 1tb drives for it so I want to upgrade to an actual dedicated NAS software to simplify how I manage it. The problem is, I only have 4gb of RAM in it. Any recommendations?...

Ubuntu just started renaming files while exporting (sending over mail, KDE Connect, Whatsapp web). The folder is my google drive, connected to my google drive. Sometimes it looses its file ending/type as well. The file is called something like: “1Kfhgsji2rjfIS-fi3oo598nf8ajlfoi.pdf”...
A couple of years ago with my old phone (running if I don’t remember wrong Android Pie) and my old laptop (running Manjaro KDE) I discovered KDEConnect and how it could enable a clipboard sharing feature similar to the one Apple provides between Macs and iPhones. It was great! Now, after having changed both my phone (now...
So I’m trying to play around with Fedora in a VM with VMWare Workstation Player (v17.5.1) but I’m running into a problem I don’t know how to solve. I use the Fedora 39 1.5 ISO file which is the most current version that’s available for download and after installing it in the VM everything works fine. I setup the install...
So I have a new installation of fedora, which I reinstalled because gdm would freeze and prevent me from logging in and using my computer. I then noticed the same problem on the new installation. I noticed that using an older kernel worked, but system upgrades will break gdm again. I don’t want to have to never update my...
I made this as a challenge to learn golang. If you ever wanted to make memes without having to use those pesky GUI tools, there you go! The only dependency is lmageMagick and the windows version comes batteries-included.
I recently reinstalled arch but I have a problem with efi partition, user can acces it and the fstab is fucked up...
I’ve been homelabbing for a few years now, and recently I’ve really been focusing in on learning how to use gnu/linux. I thought it might be fun to periodically share the things I’ve been learning. The stand outs for me this past week were:...

What’s the reasoning behind not having a “system tray” in GNOME? You need to install an extension for that, and that is a weird process for newcomers/beginners....
I want to run a command and see all of its output on the left hand side, while simultaneously searching/grepping for particular lines on the right hand side. In other words, I want a temporary vertically split screen in my CLI, ideally with scrollback on each side of the split, but where I expect the left hand side to be...

I’m on debian 11, this error doesn’t show up every time, but once it appear I need more that one reboot and it will fix automatically without doing nothing, don’t know the reason why (just read that can be kernel dependent). What I want to avoid is that maybe it’s just a warning of somethink that will cause a pc break in...
Can you recommend a Bluetooth dongle that support s version 5.3, not too terribly expensive and available in Europe? Preferably works out of the box on Ubuntu LTS, but compiling my own kernel is also acceptable....
