Distributions like RHEL and Debian freeze packages, you will have to use old package when the newer is available. I think these distributions is just for highly mission-critical system, they have to run software smoothly, no breakage. Most personal computer don’t need that stability....
Finally back on a gnome distro that supports GRUB2, and loving it so far. The exception being that every time something moves, there is a weird line in the middle of my monitor that almost “splits” the screen in half, like it’s off by a pixel or something. this isn’t really present in static images though. it’s pretty...
Getting the KDE Mega Relase 6 out was a key milestone in the transition to Qt 6 and KDE Frameworks 6, but it doesn’t mean we are done yet. There’s still components to port and scaffolding to remove.
I tested it a bit in a VM to get familiar with pacman and yay. Latest KDE Plasma 6 and more snaps in Ubuntu’s future are the main reasons I want to switch....
The project has nothing directly to do with Linux. But I think it’s interesting and you should be able to use the mouse under Linux. In my opinion, it is therefore an alternative to normal mice.
So I have a new installation of fedora, which I reinstalled because gdm would freeze and prevent me from logging in and using my computer. I then noticed the same problem on the new installation. I installed fedora kde earlier today, hated kde, couldn’t uninstall it, so reinstalled with workstation. My hostname was originally computer, but I changed it, but now I still see user@computer ~ whenever I go into a terminal? is this a problem. Gnome terminal also looks weird
I recently saw the new 550 drivers fixing a lot of wayland issues as well as KDE 6 being a lot better on wayland and decided, you know what, let me try it....
(Bonus update) I’m back on KDE6 and it’s actually working! I ran Cinnamon for about a day before missing KDE and tried a fresh install of EndeavourOS. It worked fine, Wayland still doesn’t work but I’m only getting minor bugs with x11 compared to when I tried to update from 5.27...
I’ve been using Google Drive in Windows for about a decade and have a good workflow. I recently transitioned to Linux but cannot seem to reliably connect my drive to the filesystem. My work provides unlimited Drive space and since it’s for work I have shared directories with coworkers that I need access to every day. Hence,...
