Always make sure you have a “sound” plan before attempting anything like this

Sounding. Hehe.

atyaz , in Every bell curve meme

I remember needing to understand some math concept for some reason so I googled it and clicked on the Wikipedia link. When I realized I was too stupid for that I went back and clicked on the “math is fun” link. It explained it perfectly. Thank you math is fun.

henfredemars ,

Next time try Simple English Wikipedia. It’s really great for explaining things where the full version is still too much.

For example, try their article on quantum physics.

IDatedSuccubi ,

Wikipedia is really bad at explaining things, it’s written in a way that you have to deeply know all of the surrounding topics to understand what is going on

I used to think that it’s too hard to set up a suspension on a car because the Wikipedia pages are all weird and undescriptive, but it turns out it’s very simple for something like a double wishbone, there are even visual calculators out there

glassware OP ,

I hear you with this, I’ve ended up doing a distance learning Maths degree just so I can understand all the Wikipedia squiggles

Honestly, i’m ought to try something different to both.

Your options are pretty limited, then. This Wikipedia article has a list of all browser engines; if you want not obsolete and open source ones you’re looking at Netsurf or SerenityOS’s browser. That or one of the Firefox-derived ones (Pale Moon, etc).

blackbelt352 , in Every bell curve meme

I always saw bell curve memes as, “uncritical acceptance”, “critical rejection” and “critical holistic understanding”

glassware OP ,

That’s definitely the intention. But for the guy on the left, “critical holistic understanding” amounts to “X isn’t worth it because it’s too complicated”, and he posts most of these memes.

On a shitposting community?! Gasp! My pearls!

redditcuntsz , in No, it doesnt affect him

Christ this shit hurts so bad. Fuck Reddit but you all really should learn how a corporation works and what a BoA is. Spez doesn’t decide what Reddit is. He only executes on vision. Reddit wasn’t getting series G funding in the current economy. Monitizartion of Reddit was coming spez or not.

tias ,

And the people who gassed jews to death did nothing wrong, they were just following orders?

If spez wasn’t such an asshole he would show some integrity, honesty and transparency. Even if he exexutes on someone else’s bidding, there are so much better ways he could have gone about it that would have gained support instead of hate from the community. Like, for starters, not make groundless accusations of blackmail against an app developer? This guy is a crook, and I refuse to support a society where money is used as an excuse for throwing morality out the window.

Besides I don’t even think this will benefit them financially. History will consider this a turning point toward Reddit’s demise.

redditcuntsz ,

Right into Nazi land. Fucking classic. I wouldn’t expect any less.

Netscape Navigator?

refurbishedrefurbisher ,

Which got forked to become Firefox

Faceman2K23 ,
@Faceman2K23@discuss.tchncs.de avatar

Netscape was itself a development from Mosaic, which also spun off into what became internet explorer.

so firefox and Internet Explorer (up to around ie6 at least) are kinda weird cousins.

Stan ,
@Stan@lemmywinks.com avatar

This sounds wrong. Wasn’t there some big lawsuit between Microsoft and Netscape?

This whole thing about MS claiming they couldn’t decouple their web browser from their operating system?

donnnnnnb ,

Checkout the SeaMonkey project. Uses Firefox’s engine but looks and feels just like the Netscape/Mozilla suite.
