I was permanently banned for reporting too many bots.
I appealed and it was reinstated but just proves the point of how bad the bot situation is there that a user reporting bots would get banned by an automated system.
Fucking clowns have no idea how to fix their shit and only adds more work.
Oh definitely. The bots there are a major problem, and reddit has absolutely no plans of anything anything about them. Probably one of the big reasons why discussions on lemmy/kbin feel different.
A quick search shows he was high on “flakka”, tried to ram the outermost fence and barely missing an officer. He then tried to climb the fence, got stuck in the razorwire. He ended up spitting on officers and resisting arrest, and was in the end charged with: “aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, battery on a law enforcement officer, three counts of felony criminal mischief, leaving the scene of a crash with property damage and driving under the influence”.
He was held without bail and probably saw time(It happened in 2015 and there are no followup articles and I can’t see the case, but he was arrested in 2021 and 2022 according to some court filings so he’s still doing stupid things).
I don’t trust them but they are a necessary evil for some tasks. like messaging apps, what use is Signal or other secure/foss messaging app if the people you need to communicate with uses meta products. so it is necessary for me to use meta products in order to facilitate communication with some group of people.
Operating system our company only uses windows and provide a laptop with windows as an OS. now why would I go to trouble myself in reformatting this laptop to unstall other OS when it isn’t even mine and would get me into trouble, not to mention break compatibility with my worke ecosystem. so, i use windows.
This always attracts pedants whining “the creator said to pronounce it like jif!” and it’s like, OK, A) That’s an appeal to authority, one of the best known logical fallacies B) The creator of Mother’s Day spent over 30 years trying to get people to stop celebrating it, but too bad, I’m still gonna wish my Mom a happy Mother’s Day, you know?
^^^this. Nobody is “wrong”. Say it how you want to. Either way is fine. But get all cocky and tell me I’m wrong for using a soft g and you better be able to defend that assertion, because I’ve heard every argument for why a hard g is the only correct way to say it and they’re all bs.
it’s not an appeal to authority, if the choice was his, not ours, to begin with. Tons of acronyms have letters that are pronounced differently. It could be arbitrary because an acronym is its own separate word.
Divers don’t dive oonderwater with their scuba gear. And when they take a camera with them, they don’t get the pictures saved as jaypheg files.
The choice can be arbitrary. Since it is, the creator gets to decide. Like whoever discovers a new species of creature gets to name it whatever they like.
