TwilightVulpine , in I finally got a Switch! What now?

You can get Mario + Rabbids very cheaply from time to time, it's one of the few exclusive Switch games you'll get a good price on.

Megaman_EXE , in in my opinion, '98 was the best year for game releases. What's yours?

I can’t say if it was the best year as I haven’t looked through every year, but 2011 was a pretty strong year that sticks out in my mind

Some notable titles (for me) were skyrim, portal 2, LA Noir, ocarina of time 3D, star fox 3D(do these two count? They were technically remakes for the 3DS), skyward sword, Dark souls.

Other titles that might be notable (there might be more that I don’t list, I’m just skimming quickly) Amnesia, battlefield 3, COD MW3, Catherine, Crysis 2, dead space 2, gears of War 3, hatoful boyfriend, little big planet 2, Mario kart 7, mortal kombat (2011), no more room in hell, red orchestra 2, saints row 3, SMT devil survivor 2, tekken tag tournament 2, terraria, track mania 2.

Again there might be some i missed(especially playstation releases, I think i maybe missed a resistance game or something) but those were some notable ones I saw.

The games I’ve spent the most time on (since I got mine before Christmas) are BOTW, TOTK, and funnily enough Factorio. The E-shop does have some decent sales, so just keep an eye out!

Kauhuhu , in I finally got a Switch! What now?

If you have someone to play with, definitely get sniperclips. One of the best coop experiences on the switch. This is one of those couch coop games you can play even with people that usually don’t play video games

Chetzemoka ,

With that username and you don't say Hollow Knight right out the gate, I am disappoint 😂

(Seriously though, OP, Hollow Knight is cheap and amazing.)

SighBapanada ,

You’re the first person the get the reference, congrats! 🎉

Chetzemoka ,

I'm mildly obsessed with HK lol. I only got it in Dec 2022 and I just beat The Radiance for the first time a few weeks ago. I can't seem to manage it a second time, so I literally just bought the game on Steam and got an Xbox controller because it's more responsive than my Switch. I'm not sure what happened to my life haha

(Still waiting for someone to get my reference though. Not HK related :)

SighBapanada ,

Congrats on beating the radiance, that’s as far as I got before putting down the controller. Now eagerly awaiting for silksong

Cloanto, the company that owns the rights to the Commodore Amiga line, have a legal emulator that they sell called Amiga Forever. It’s about half the price of one modern AAA game, and when you download it, it comes with about fifty games of varying notability, and there’s many times more you can just install and play. And it’s all legal.

I would love this to be the industry norm, imagine being able to download a NES! It’s annoying that if we want future generations to be able to experience games of the past (whether to learn from them, or just for pleasure) we need to teach our children about piracy.

Thomas was alone has a great soundtrack imo.

Ape Escape goes hard. It’s not just the nostalgia.

millie , in What’s one of your favorite game soundtracks?

Shadowrun for SNES had a pretty fantastic soundtrack. It did a lot with very little and really paints a picture of the setting very quickly. Another candidate from the same era is Planescape: Torment. It had this great haunting ambient sound that made Sigil feel so strange and ancient.

At the time though, if you’d asked me which game had the best soundtrack, I’ve had pointed to Tony Hawk, though I’m not sure if it was 1 or 2. The one with Party at Ground Zero. Found some great music of the era that way!
