ericflo , in Immortals of Aveum, ‘Call of Duty with magic’ has been delayed

I actually think this game looks pretty good, and the fact they care enough to delay it is a positive signal. It’s one of the first UE5 games. I’ll play it when it comes out.

Fauxreigner , in What Indie hidden gems do you recommend?

A bunch of my favorites have already been listed, so I’ll just mention the one that wasn’t: Antichamber, a first person puzzle game that’s probably somewhat like Portal in terms of how it requires you to rethink your assumptions about how space works, but it’s a very different game, both mechanically and in tone. I don’t want to give away too much, but it’s a mix of weirdly unsettling elements (although it is by no means a horror game), a design that’s actively trolling you in ways that will make you laugh, and mechanics revelations that will have you scream “Wait, I could have done that this whole time?!” It’s one of those games that I wish I could delete from my memory and play for the first time again.

Virgo , in Skyrim gog or steam version
@Virgo@beehaw.org avatar

I can’t speak to the GOG version but it frequently goes on sale on Steam (75% off of so), so you wouldn’t have to wait long.

dog , in Famous Minecraft YouTuber Mumbo Jumbo plays FOSS Minecraft-like; Actually super enjoys it.

I know I’m not the target aydience, but deer god I can’t stand minecraft channels. Absolutely obnoxious camera spanning, 95% of the video is zoomed in a minecraft characters face, obnoxious speech.

That said, I welcome new alternatives.

astigma ,
@astigma@mastodonapp.uk avatar

@dog @AdaghastTheMad If you're open to watching Minecraft content you can't really go wrong with any of the people on Hermitcraft. They're all mostly chill and spend 90% of their videos in first person just playing the game. Grian and Mumbo, being the two biggest creators on Hermitcraft tend to have a bit more of what you dislike but you could try Xisuma, JoeHills, DocM77, ImpulseSV, TangoTek or PearlescentMoon to name a few.

DarkThoughts ,

I can't stand his and other MC channels clickbait garbage. I think Etho is the only one I still watch to this day. No weird titles, no weird thumbnails, no asking for subs, just genuine good content.

sotolf ,
@sotolf@kbin.social avatar

Etho is wonderful, his channel is probably the longest subscription I have on youtube, not gimmicky just being himself and having fun with the game.

Tag365 ,
@Tag365@lemmy.zip avatar

Have you watched Direwolf20’s videos? They’re not about camera span or zoomed in faces, just close to raw modded Minecraft gameplay.

spark947 , in Famous Minecraft YouTuber Mumbo Jumbo plays FOSS Minecraft-like; Actually super enjoys it.

I remember the days when Notch said he would release Minecraft’s source code under creative commons. And then a bunch of genuinely bad stuff happened to him and left him a broken man.

DarkThoughts ,

That's a nice way of saying that he turned his inner asshole inside out.

tias ,

Loneliness and social-media algorithms are a dangerous combination. I think he could have ended up differently if he had more friends around him that offered a counterbalance to the narrow perspective he has been likely been spoonfed by the likes of Twitter and YouTube. As would many other rich, white men (see: Elon Musk) that unfortunately tend to end up with leeches and yes-men.

LeopardStripesx3 , in Cities Skylines II Development Diary #1: Road Tools

I’m so happy to see a thread about Cities Skylines here! And one with plenty of reactions and comments.

I was worried the community would vanish along with Reddit and I would have go elsewhere to get my complex intersection fix…

r0bbbo ,

Me too—I was saddened when r/CitiesSkylines didn’t take part in the blackout. A community for a game that became as successful as it is in part due to the hard work of unpaid third-party developers should have been at the forefront of the protests

Witch , in Visual Novels
@Witch@beehaw.org avatar

I love visual novels but I’m so bad at playing them. I keep buying them because I love to support the industry, but they tend to be hours and hours long so I don’t finish them, aha.

The last one I played through a route on was “Life After Magic” which is a pretty relatable queer VN about a Sailor Moon expy who dropped out of high school and ended up in a dead-end job, having to reunite with her friends / potential love interests. I’d like to finish this one because I know you can date the villain in one route.

Hedup , in What are your favorite gaming YouTubers?

Not really a content creator, but rather a network of creators - The Yogscast. They’re fun, they’re all friends, they make me laugh, they’re wholesome and cursed at the same time, I love em.

Pestilence , in What are you playing this week?

I’m playing Grim Dawn because i’m not a big fan of always-on in Diablo 4. So i’ve decided to give Grim Dawn a try and damn, i’m really loving it.

Sacah ,

It’s a great game, I’ve been recommending people spend their money on it over D4, for the same price they could get all the Grim Dawn dlcs and have a stack more content in my mind (-:

I just fired up a GD game with a friend last weekend. I forgot how to play since it’s been so long.

Necro/Occultist all day long. BoneZone and the boys causing havoc all around.

KoboldCoterie , in Spedrunning Noita in 2 Seconds (Glitchless)
@KoboldCoterie@pawb.social avatar

Calling this glitchless is a little misleading, unless you’re suggesting that carrying spells over from one run to the next was intended / normal functionality. This also requires a mod-constructed wand that isn’t possible to get in a non-modded game.

It’s still awesome from a theorycrafting standpoint, but there’s no one arguing that this is a legitimate speedrun.

sombrero , in PC Games to play in local co-op?

I was a bit confused when you said local co-op. It implies 2 computers on the same local network(connected to the same router, no internet connection required). I think the term you’re looking for is split screen gaming.

When I looked at pictures of Spelunky games like Clonk and Liero popped into mind, I think there are options for split screen multiplayer in those games, they’re old school PvP games.

ono ,

My friends call that LAN play or LAN co-op. To me, local co-op has always been a more general phrase, covering all of the above.

I’m just waiting until these models get completely unraveled by training on output. The more people use generative AI to make stuff online, the more useless the internet is as a data source.

Cylinsier , in Owner of Destructoid, The Escapist, Siliconera, and others Fires Writers and Hires for "AI Editor" to Churn Out Hundreds of Articles Per Week
@Cylinsier@beehaw.org avatar

The enshitification of the internet continues. How can we offer our content, but without having to pay anyone for it and at a much higher rate of delivery? By not giving a fuck about the quality anymore and not having any real competition so people have no choice. Except people always have a choice. We can walk away.

Pegatron ,
@Pegatron@kbin.social avatar

I don't see why people would even go to a site to read AI generated articles and be bombarded with ads. I could just ask an AI to write an article for me? Just cut out the middle man at that point.

interolivary ,

I don’t see why people would even go to a site to read AI generated articles and be bombarded with ads.

Doesn’t have to be voluntary on the user’s part. Maybe they clicked a link on Google? Or maybe a site they’ve been reading for ages suddenly switches to “AI editors” and it’s never really announced to the users in a clear way

Jimmycrackcrack ,

The sites don’t mention the AI authorship, so you go there to read an article, likely one you found linked elsewhere, only to be baffled by the ramblings.
