I have recently started using fediverse apps, mostly lemmy and mastodon. So far Lemmy is the only one I use the most and kind of understand....
As the question states. I have the skiils and know how to setup a new instsnce and from looking through the documentation its relatively straight forward. Im just wondering would it actually help the fediverse and lemmy as a whole? There seems to already be plenty of instances to choose from. What are your guys thoughts?
I wrote a quick script that opens links to external sites in a new tab. It works everywhere, not just on lemmy.world. You need a browser extension to embed custom javascript to use it....
Does the name need to be like the URL, or just what you wanna call the community? There’s a little help icon next to the text box, but tapping it doesn’t seem to make any help text show up....
There should be a maximum cap of 500k users (maybe less) on all instances because:...
I think that most folks use upvote/ downvote as an v agree/ disagree. But maybe there could be, in the long run, a place where other votes could be made. Dm it’s more like a song quality system, maybe similar to customer support reviews you get agree after dealing with a customer support call ....
With Threads/Meta heading for the fediverse, and Tumblr looking at ActivityPub, how would you feel if Reddit decided to add support and federate Kbin & Lemmy?...
Hi all,...
Which is the better protocol overall based on the current information?
Fact is, the Lemmy ecosystem needs money to handle the growing server reqirements as more people migrate as well as the development cost of new features (I know Lemmy is OSS but the devs should still get some compensation for their effort)....
Given the recent attack, I think this is a good opportunity to remind of the importance of using 2FA....
I need a little help here. I run into an unexpected occurrence, one that leaves me still wondering how it came about. I logged into my Lemmy account to disable 2FA because from my engagements, it’s not functional (if it is, kindly help me). I was required to provide a token when I couldn’t even obtain the codes then I run...
Hello, compatriots! I’m new here (joined a few hours ago) I’m more than glad to become a part of what is referred to as the ‘new face of Reddit’. What brought about my joining was my search into the Fediverse after Threads come out with the promise of being a part in future iterations of the application. With the take...
One of the most annoying parts about That Place, and also Lemmy, is curating your feed by blocking communities you have no interest in seeing....
Do they get adopted by other instances? Are they still accessible from other instances? Can you still post on them from another instance?...
I notice that when I search for communities I see the same community has been created on multiple instances. I could subscribe to all of them but I’d much rather it be one larger community. Does any else see this as an issue or find this frustrating? If so, have you done anything that’s made it easier to deal with or have...
I found from hard way that lemmy community urls are bit problematic. Here is the story, which contains bit NSFW material....

I didn’t come to a new service just to see it get taken over by the corporate beasts who ruined the internet in general, and I am sure as hell am not going to use an instance that doesn’t care about its users....
I’m impressed with the feedback I’m getting. I didn’t expect my post to get much response or engagement (traction if you are from Mastodon). Grateful for the help and warm welcome!...
