It’d be worthwhile :)
I recently migrated my instance to another host which I freaked up and spent 6 hours fixing. I want to know if federation is working properly.
I often browse /all, come across a post that looks interesting but I have no clue what’s it about, so I check the sidebar - and all I find is “An unofficial Lemmy community for X”, " A place to discuss everything about X", or the best kind, “A continuation of r/X from Reddit”....
There should be a universal community search engine for the Fediverse where you type in a community description or keyword and the service returns a list of all similar communities across all of the instances. It should be called Feddle (the Fediverse Google.)
It’d be worthwhile :)
I’ve recently been made aware of the non-sustainable business of Spotify (and other streaming services) youtu.be/gDfNRWsMRsU ....
I’ve seen people talk about wanting FOSS alternatives for platforms like Tiktok and Deviantart in the Fediverse....
I am an old internet user. One of the things that used to drive me nuts was when all these corporate products like Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, etc. would change their entire UIs on a whim without any user feedback. I am a big fan of the pre-material design language UIs that did not contain any shiny/glossy elements of...
Currently I’m more aware of general interest instances for both Lemmy & Kbin, and a few more focused ones (e.g. Mander.xyz/slrpnk.net/startrek.website), so I’m curious what others there might be....
I thought maybe when I click on the communities page on Lemmy.world, that I could then sort the list of communities/magazines/servers by clicking on the subscribers column and it would sort the list by that column....
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I would rather see the most upvoted comments at the top. I have my feeds sorted by Top Day so I see something different every day....

I’m trying to figure out how to get the comments of a post given a link to it using ActivityPub....
Hey so i know this is a weird question but… does anyone has the same issue of “vanishing comments”? every few times i write a comment, it sends the comment… and boom its gone like it never existed. it doesn’t gives me any error message, its just gone forever....
My tendency seems to be owning my own business and freelancing until I die (until I get stable enough to build my own products). I've been trying to connect with more business-minded people--"average of 5 people" type of mentality. Currently it seems that the only way of doing this is LinkedIn....
I’ve been telling a lot of people about it, but everyone’s a skeptic. I’ve heard a lot of people saying that they’re just going to wait to see which Reddit clone comes out on top before switching. Most of them haven’t heard of the other parts of the fediverse like mastodon. I’d like to leave fb/instagram, but like...

Im wondering what ways people advertise/grow their lemmy instances. I recently just created mine and would like to put it out there as one of the options. How did you discover your instance and what drew you to it?
Liftoff, Connect, and Jerboa do not allow me to create communities on their apps. If they could then I would never need to resort to the desktop site ever again.

I’m starting to notice spam accounts here — accounts that do nothing but post and crosspost links to low-quality or promotional websites....
I know a Mastodon user can create a new post by mentioning a Lemmy community, but I believe it is just a text post...
As the question states. I have the skiils and know how to setup a new instsnce and from looking through the documentation its relatively straight forward. Im just wondering would it actually help the fediverse and lemmy as a whole? There seems to already be plenty of instances to choose from. What are your guys thoughts?
