This is more of a support question, related to using Lemmy. Please see the sidebar for a list of communities that offer support. Removing under rule #3.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT CAN THERE BE A NEW RULE ABOUT THIS SAME FUCKING QUESTION EVERY GODDAMN DAY?

DAE HATE HEXBEAR GIFF POINTS

wallybeavis ,

I use the uBlock Origin extension to block instances. If it’s available on your browser:

  • click the uBlock Origin icon next to the URL bar in your browser
  • click on the gears icon
  • Select the ‘My Filters’ tab

add this line (assuming you’re on lemmy.ml and hexbear.net is the instance you wish to block): lemmy.ml##.post-listing:has-text(@hexbear.net)

Please keep in mind, this is using a sledgehammer to swat a gnat. YMMV

DigitalTraveler42 ,

The Lemmy Connect app has instance blocking features.

fr0g ,

I don’t think Lemmy proper has that feature yet, but some apps might.

Other than that you could open an account on an instance more in line with your prefered blocks or use kbin which already allows for instance blocking.

You cannot, this is not yet implemented in Lemmy. The feature exists in some apps, but it’s essentially a client-side filter. For now, to really block an instance, you’ll have to block the communities individually.

The Memmy app has a feature to block an instance.

As does Connect, lots of options

HexBear lacks a downvote function. Our only option to show disagreement is to comment, which fosters discussion rather than burying those we disagree with and creating an echo chamber.

While I can agree that we’re often more abrasive than we have to be, I can’t abide accusations of gang harassment because we comment rather than downvote.

“Fosters discussion” is an interesting way of presenting most of what goes on at hexbear. Name-calling and abuse is not “discussion.”

Name-calling and abusing bigots and libs is the best discussion

AngrilyEatingMuffins ,

i have literally never seen this. i've seen a shitload of disingenuous abuse hurled their way, though.

ATQ ,

It’s pretty easy to downvote and move on. Hexbear actually approves of this as you’re giving your downvotes according to your ability, to them according to their special needs.

Criticizing Hexbear with an ableist comment is chefs-kiss

ATQ ,

Your needs a very special. Good for you, little guy!

Doubling down on being a bigot makes you look so sexy and smart ❤️

Should have thrown in an ableist slur to give the message a bit more punch
