You would think life experience would make them better at reading the clouds, but it seems to just further implant them in their ingrained beliefs, probably because they are usually surrounded by peers of the same age. Biden is lucky he was forced to work with some of his youngers, otherwise he would be blundering through this worse than he is.

Sanctions matter when they’re applied to those in power, or if you don’t care about civilians an entire geographic area…
Israel is about to isolate all of Palestine from international banking btw. They said they wouldn’t if these meaningless sanctions weren’t cancelled, but they know there’s no repercussions from going back on their word when they own both our political parties.

Earlier this month, the far-right minister Smotrich threatened to paralyse the Palestinian Authority’s economy in response to the United States imposing sanctions on four West Bank extremist settlers accused of violence against Palestinians.
They can do it now. Everyone knows that this isn’t about Hamas anymore. And Zionists now know Biden will continue to support their Genocide unconditionally anyways.
For those not familiar with the geography of the area, the West Bank is significantly larger than the Gaza Strip, and it is not a contiguous region. It is made up of Palestinian villages and cities separated by illegal Israeli settlements that were purposely placed in and between the Palestinian land to minimize the ability of Palestinians to control themselves and their security.
A large-scale attack in the West Bank at the level of the genocide in Gaza would be absolutely catastrophic for every single person living in the region. It would be devastating and unforgivable. Which I’m sure is the point.
After reading the report the situation is not a bad as I thought. I heard somewhere all the food trucks were being blocked and the only food that was coming in was being dropped via air.
I wonder how you would feel if you, your wife and your kids were all starving and you were failing to provide enough food for them on the table.
Or think of all those parents with newborn babies forced to live in makeshift tents in unsanitary conditions without access to even basic medicine, or pre-milk. I am sure their child mortality rate has skyrocketed.
And guess where there were 100% acute malnutrition. Concentration camps! It seems we have learned nothing from the history books and still in the 21st century we allow this to happen.
My comment only states that I thought the conditions were worse. Nowhere do I say the conditions aren’t extremely dire or bad. Ive read news that food trucks are being stopped for weeks and weeks i thought food had run out a long time ago. My feelings in that situation are irrelevant.
They’re getting barely a fith of the aid they were pre Oct 7 and it’s not like they were eating good before. I’m surprised the starvation deaths aren’t in the 10s of thousands
Read that little Singapore is flying air drops with its C130. But, they really need the floating docks to get enough food in there. The 200 tons the World Kichen shipped in is already in stomachs.
British member of parliament Alicia Kearns said on X (formerly Twitter) that Israel was failing to meet its legal obligation to help aid get into the besieged enclave, citing the closure of the Kerem Shalom crossing. “I’ve just returned from the aid staging location in Egypt, thousands of trucks are sat waiting to deliver aid,” she wrote.
In response, Israeli government spokesperson Eylon Levy claimed that the crossing was “currently closed on Saturdays at the request of the UN because there is so much undistributed aid piling up on the other side”.
Kearns asked for evidence from Levy, pointing out that his claim was the “opposite” of what she had been told by the UK government, Egyptian government and the UN. “They are clear the Israeli Govt requested no deliveries on a Saturday,” she wrote.
When there is a severe shortage of food; any food is at risk of being targeted by desperate people. Food is a tier 1 need. It doesn’t matter if the food is being delivered by land or sea. The solution to this is to provide enough food that people know they are not going to starve to death even without resorting to violence to get what food they can
Agree, but you can get far more aid via ship than trucks or airplanes. That’s why the Seabees are busy building the docks. T rucks and airplanes can only get enough calories in for a group that large to survive. Famine is at hand and the docks are the key.
More aid is irrelevant once you have enough aid. And you can get enough aid in through land. More importantly, we have the roads and trucks to get food in today. We have been using the land route to get food into Gaza for years. The problem is that the most powerful military in the region is blocking the land route.
Now, instead of applying pressure on that military, we are going to spend months building a port to go around them.
By itself that makes sense; except that military is our close ally. We are their biggest shield on the international stage, and biggest supplier of weapons and defensive systems. However, instead of trying to leverage any of that to try and solve the actual barriers to aid delivery, we are going to spend months building a water route.
If this approach ends up working, it would not be because water routes are more efficient. It would ve because the US war ships operating the dock exert enough pressure that Isreal would not dare oppose them.
Of course, even success here only gets food into Gaza. It does not address internal distribution. Ideally, we would use established networks for that. However Israel has running a largly successful campaign to dismantle the only aid network that has been operating at scale within Gaza (unrwa)
What you don’t seem to understand is that the US demanded and recieved Israel’s cooperation and future protection of those docks. Probably pissed off Bibi but so it goes.

I, personally, am ashamed at how little I knew about the affairs of the region until recently.
I always thought it should be kinda obvious, but the sheer racism against muslims makes people think of Hamas that way, no way their actions are justified, but almost all these radical extremist organizations are the direct consequence of years of brutal oppression from some other party
Kinda Similar to 9/11, the US is always painted as the good guys, but they were the only ones digging their own grave, again, it was terrible, but the US should have been held equally accountable, rather they actually doubled down

Perhaps it’s not a “israeli” war? Perhaps if there would be no Gaza this military machine would burn Syria, Lebanon, what ever? Perhaps this is power and money? Perhaps it’s about nothing more?
