Gameplaywise nice, but from a tech standpoint a little underwhelming. No 32:9 support, HDR is mediocre and without calibration, no FOV settings, language cannot be properly changed,…

bionicjoey , to newcommunities in Low Sodium Starfield

I haven’t picked it up yet so I’ll probably avoid this for now. But I have every confidence that I will enjoy Starfield, since I like Beth games. On that note, is the dialogue system in this game more like Skyrim or Fallout 4? Because that was really my biggest complaint with their last title.

Uncaged_Jay ,

It’s more like Skyrim in my experience

weeahnn ,
@weeahnn@lemmy.world avatar

I’d probably say that its even closer to fallout 3’s system.

bionicjoey ,

Is that to say that there are skill checks in the dialogue options?

weeahnn ,
@weeahnn@lemmy.world avatar

Hmm I haven’t come across actual skill checks, sometimes you get certain dialogue options if you have certain skills, but the only check I’ve come across is the persuasion system, which admittedly is closer Oblivion. I do think that this dialogue system is one of their better ones tho.

Uncaged_Jay ,

There are, the dialogue options are also far more consequential than Fall Out 4’s

A, the people are traveling towards the portal, not the other way around.

If they were falling/running at the portal it would be different.

Here the portal is moving forward towards them, they have no momentum.tk travel through the portal.

Yadaran , to memes in Combining two different internet debates

The Portal can’t move front or back, only “to it’s sides”

Nioxic , to memes in Combining two different internet debates

A.

its the train that has velocity. The people who enter the portal will not be moving?

Its like that buster keaton clip where he stands still and the side of the house falls down around him(well… sort of)

7heo ,

The train has absolutely no velocity relatively to the orange portal. The people are moving relatively to the orange portal.

If the ground disappears from under your feet at 60 miles per hour, the moment you start falling are you falling at 60 miles per hour?

7heo , (edited )

Yes, that is called running extra fast. And then falling, with the same momentum. Unless there are two grounds, with different relativities. Like with a treadmill: you run relatively to the treadmill, but you are stationary relatively to the ground under it, because you run at exactly the same speed as the treadmill moves in the other way (hopefully for you…).

gibmiser , to memes in Combining two different internet debates

Someone take this a step further and make the train an airplane on a treadmill

Fubarberry OP ,
@Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz avatar

My original idea for this involved two tracks (like the original trolley problem) and which track you chose (for minimum casualties) would depend on your interpretation of the physics problem.

Unfortunately it ended up super complicated and I made this simple one instead.

But adding the train on a treadmill is a great way to overcomplicate it further if I ever go for the complicated version.

Who could forget the classic Brendan Fraser movie, “Blast from the Past”

Edit: forgot ‘forgot the’

orbitz ,

I think I caught it couple times on a movie channel, since they were both hot actors (more way than one at the time) I enjoyed it. Curious if it holds up but I recall it being a decent comedy movie overall regardless if I just wanted to see more of Alicia Silverstone. Just looked it up, I have no memory of Dave Foley (news radio, kids in the hall) in it, maybe time for a rewatch, he is always good for a laugh.
