If you're an iOS user, you've never been on the other side and experienced the sheer frustration of just trying to communicate or exchange simple things, like pictures or audio clips. Want high res? Nope, Apple devices still downgrade images to resolutions that were bare minimum compatibility for feature phones over a decade ago and the Android recipient gets the terrible quality image. Video of your kid your mother recorded? Forget it, it's been reduced to potato quality that, again, is compatible with feature phones from eons ago and sent to the Android user with the latest flagship. Exchange an audio clip you recorded? That recording is transcoded to a garbled mess and sent to the Android user.
The only way to get quality is to switch to some other communication platform such as Signal. That shouldn't be the case in 2024.
Depends where you are looking. I live slightly out of town, and the subdivision HOA does little more than road maintenance and snow plowing (so the HOA owns a plow truck and a tractor), trash service, maintenance of communal areas.
A nearby subdivision has no HOA and it must be a pain working out who’s responsible for maintaining or snow plowing sections of road, with the answer from everyone probably being “not me”, and everything is a mess.
Sure, but having the home owners come together in some kind of association to take on some basic services makes the suburbs slightly more sustainable for the city. When the city does everything for the suburbs it’s a serious problem - the infrastructure costs more because of the huge lots and lack of housing density so they have to build more. Dense urban areas generate more tax revenue and most suburbs and neighborhoods of single family homes end up costing cities money, it’s one more way society subsidizes the lives of wealthier people.
I hope he is forever dubbed “officer acorn” and made fun of for the rest of his life. Like officer bubbles. In reality, he’s probably a police chief at the next town already
Back in my day, we had to churn our plastics by hand, for hours. My grandfather wouldn’t let us play until we finished our chores. Kids these days don’t know how easy they have it.
Out of curiosity I’ve let it rate Low<-Tech Magazine, a website run on an ARM SBC powered exclusively with off-grid solar power, and that only achieves 87% / A.
Same as "carbon footprint" - meaningless greenwashed bullshit there to shift focus away from those responsible, and the true scale of the damage they're causing for money.
If anything - seeing that kind of certification would make me actively avoid a company because you know they're at best using it to virtue signal for profits, at worst and more likely, they're using it to cover up much much worse shit they're doing.
Yeah, but it could also fix some things regarding racism, sexism, ableism, trans issues, immigration, geographic disadvantages etc. Maybe climate change?
That’s what the basis of reincarnation is about though… karma. You do good deeds, your karma level goes up, you get a better reincarnated life in the future. Likewise, the opposite is true as well.
Karma is an aspect of the Hindu and Buddhist reincarnation beliefs. They do not have sole ownership of the concept of reincarnation.
If they had said “What if Hinduism is right and reincarnation is real?” then that would be a different scenario. They only put forth that the concept of reincarnation was real.
Ah I see what you mean now. Eh, regardless I’m sure the universe would have some sort of similar karmic system in place to prevent thatt suicidal loop hole.
Optimistic of you to think people wouldn’t use it as an excuse to be even MORE discriminatory. There would be Ultra-Whites who could claim they were never non-white in the past X years, with seniority by how far back they can trace their reincarnated whiteness. And of course there would be new religions claiming that if you follow them you’ll be reincarnated into the race/environment of your choice.
Odds are you aren’t going to be reincarnated as a white person though. Seems like they would cut the shit out the first time they are reincarnated as something different.
