I am scared of the Plasma 6 upgrade. I currently have oxygen theme with a bunch of stuff like lamp minimizing effect, fall apart effect when closing windows, wobbly windows when moving or resizing them, animated rainbow mouse pointer (XP style). Also the loading mouse icon when opening programs is the programs icon jumping up and down.
I am not sure all of it will work on Plasma 6.
I can verify that lamp minimizing, and wobbly windows work on plasma 6 (Arch btw). The only things that stopped working for me were a couple widgets that I found out haven’t been updated in like 8 years.

Well I’d like to think I’m not! I wanted to point to an actually dubious thing where we might call into question a study, so we could still respect the work being done while validating the importance of standards in research.
You’re right though that it’s disappointing how many responses seem to address only the flaws in modern science and not acknowledge the strength of the scientific process. I think a big part of it does come down to how scientific findings are interpreted and reported to the public, and even further an all-too-human misunderstanding of epistemic limitations. Our cultures should spend more time educating people about the limits of knowledge and fact, how they are constrained by other flawed systems, etc. That would be a half-decent start, if we could only fix the entire reporting problem too.
I don’t know about you, but when I hear “oligarchs”, I always get a nebulous image of faceless, rich and powerful crowd who are into sex cults like Eyes Wide Shut. I kid about the last bit but I am serious about the other descriptors
I think the reason we don’t immediately think of oligarch when we see Zuckerberg, Gates or Musk is because we see them on individual basis. Whereas “oligarch” usually refers to a faceless collective of politically influential, rich folks.
I think of two things. The goofy ass oligarch commercial from a few years ago and Jeremy Irons when he is monologuing about how the %1 always hides. And it’s true. The ones that really pull the strings are behind the curtain.
It’s more than that, it’s that we have a very sophisticated media machine that manufactures consent for these ghouls every single day, and it never takes a break.
You think of them as just a bunch of guys, just silly beans who happened to get rich because they and their friends own the media corporations that build the narrative that we believe. We’ve got these very respectable newsreaders who give them nothing but softballs, and frame every story as favourably as possible for them.
Also I lost count of how many times some piece that was critical of US oligarchs and corporations was deleted from the reddit front page. I’m fairly certain they were either taking money for this service or just looking after their friends. Maybe a PR manager working for whoever was being criticised contacted the reddit office and asked politely and that’s all it took.
Because none of those pictured here are oligarchs, just the only billionaires your average teenager knows.
If you made the meme with the Koch brother(s), Paul Novelly, Harlan Crow or Michael Bloomberg it would be much closer to the truth, but not something that would get upvotes because they aren’t constantly on TV (by design).
Mine are 17 but have a literal 3/4 lb (smoked) patty and 2 strips of real good old fashioned bacon, two fried texas garlic toasts for a “bun”, the real fancy french mustard and my house sauce, the best pickles ever, 5 onion rings but no side. I can do this because I’m a bar in the middle of nowhere, not in a major city with staff and massive expenses.
That’s right. Stop in for a burger, I’m open Tuesday to Sunday 1130 am to late. Tuesdays are beer n a burger 20 bucks, Thursdays 11 dollar wings (30+ flavours).

Ok apparently roughly 850 calories for the hamburger, 175 for the toast, 150 for the onion rings, 10 calories for the mustard, 100 calories for the special sauce going by the mayo base for 3 tbsps, 200 for the cheese and roughly 150 for the bacon. So…1700 calories at a minimum.
There’s a place called Bub’s burgers where they do a 1lbs burger challenge. They’re actually pretty good too. Not sure about how it compares nationally.
No, not on the menu. I don’t actually eat like this myself, I’m a big dude, used to work the rigs, trades, cowboy, etcetera. I couldn’t get through half one of these monstrosities i make if I even try. Probably how I stayed reasonably thin when I was a trucker. Been cooking long enough to know what tastes good, I had owned this bar half a year before I even tried the burgers I was making people. When i do make myself hamburger, it’s like a quarter pound patty by itself and i just fork n knife it with some spicy sauce, or maybe with gravy.
I serve people what are essentially “treats”. You can’t eat like this regularly. I’m well aware of the secrets of French Cuisine, which are sugar, butter, bacon fat and cream.
