I hate massages while they’re happening. They hurt like hell. But then afterward, my back is golden for weeks, so it’s worth it. I just have to endure!
As I understand it, it wasn’t to work the carbon out of it, but instead to simply evenly spread the impurities throughout the whole sword, so there weren’t any specific points of weakness
Obligatory “It wasn’t folded 1000 times, it was folded 11 times giving it more than a thousand folds.” Fun fact, the older traditional Japanese forges were basically assembled from mud found right there on the rivers where they found their low grade iron, and this process was kept alive by spiritualism and tradition conservatives, so it’s honestly a miracle they assembled anything long and sharp at all. Most of the iron in Japan is considered low grade Pyrite at only 46% iron, while other places in the world had access to Magnetite with up to 72% iron before any refining.
The famous Roman legion rarely engaged in formation combat with sword and shield, more often Fighting started with spear and shield and moved to sword and shield.
It’s because people want to imagine themselves as a hero, engaging in one on one combat. A knight or samurai.
They don’t want to imagine themselves as a barely trained serf in a block with 30 other people holding 3m long pikes trying not to shit yourself as arrows start to rain down.
To preempt the inevitable: no, companies do not take your donations and then use them as a tax write off to somehow profit. That's a myth. That's not how taxes work. Those donations are yours and you can claim them on your taxes. Yes, really.
It’s not the tax write off. It’s that the companies like to white wash their image though these types of charities at the counter. They could just donate a portion of their profits instead. I don’t need my charitable donations to be impulse purchases when I’m trying to grab some milk.
They’ll also use the customer donations in their own marketing materials with carefully chosen wording.
“We put $X in the hands of X charity!” Sounds cute, until you realize why they don’t say they “donated $X” instead. It’s because it’s often not their money or donation.
I’m sorry you have to endure that man child’s populist politics :/
But I wouldn’t consider Snickers to be a cheap dinner either. For the same money you can easily buy some rice and a few veggies and have an actual dinner instead.
This life is not real. We are each a flit of an image in an Eldritch God’s dream. Life is meaningless. There is a reason that our central nervous system looks like a jellyfish-type thing. It is because we are truly made in our slumbering god’s image and our bodies are only vessels to hide this image from other, awake gods. The god only knows slumber. And memes.
But what makes a meme, a meme? Or funny in this case. Most if not all good memes have to be relatable, so your meme is kinda related to real life. I mean, for some people, your meme is relatable in their life.
So many would like to say no when asked for donations but didn’t for whatever reason? Hard to argue on this one since it’s subjective, but personally, I surely wouldn’t find it difficult to say ‘no thanks’.
