I got banned from Am I The Asshole for calling someone in OPs story a loser from highschool (90s version of a neck beard who thinks he’s gods gift to the world). Turns out one of the mods was that exact same flavour of loser.
I’m now permanently suspended for saying Andrew Tate deserved to get raped in prison and pointing out the irony of him objecting to house arrest when he was literally keeping people trapped in his house and was raping them. There were posts defending rape, but that was just sooooo offside.
8 years and 200,000+ karma.
Post was obv deleted by the mods (after 200 upvotes) so this is the best I got.
THE PERSON THAT DOWNVOTED THIS DESERVES THEIR AIRPODS TO RUN OUT OF BATTERY DURING A 12 HOUR FLIGHT SITTING NEXT TO A CHILD AND THEIR CHATTY NO-VAX-MAKING-MY-OWN-BREAD-LOOK-AT-THE-PICTURES-OF-MY-C-SECTION-DELIVERY MOTHER
It takes 5 minutes at most to get another hour of playback from my headset. You do not need a headphone jack in this day an age, and I say this as an avid music listener. Also ANC won’t work if your battery is dead most of the time, so having a wired option is not that useful for your flight
IT TAKES 0 SECONDS TO HAVE ∞ HOURS OF PLAYBACK FOR MY HEADSET.
Talking seriously, I really hate that everything in this day and age has to come with a battery: it’s a useless waste of resources.
When you buy a good set of cabled earphones it will be good for life (I used my AudioTechnica M50 for more than 10 years and only had to change the cable once), wireless you’ll have to throw them away when the batteries will eventually die (in 3 years on average).
E-waste is a serious issue, if you want to go green, go cable <3
Okay so I go running quite often, no phone on me, just my watch (which is on my wrist) and my AirPods.
How does your setup work in my regard? Because I genuinely don’t see a way to go cabled for it without changing how I do things, and having a cable running to my watch is just stupid.
(I do use wired headphones whenever I’m at home because we all know it’s better at a fundamental level) but let’s be honest AirPods have their place.
Never said that bluetooth buds/earphones should be dismantled, please abandon this “if you have an argument for your thing it means you’re against my thing” mindset, it makes you sound dumb and you are not;
Back in the 90’s joggers would run with huge-ass cassette walkmans powered by 4x AA batteries strapped on their shorts and hardly anyone popped an hernia or got strangled by the earphones: while we had great achievements in terms of electronics wearability, don’t let comfort be your cage.
Nobody is implying that Bluetooth headphones are inherently bad, but just that the additional choice offered by a wired headphone option would be very useful.
I’m with you. I still use my 3.5mm jack daily. I’ve got some cheap PC stereo speakers next to my bed, so I can listen to stuff to fall asleep to. They suck for music, but are just fine for audiobooks for instance.
I gotta say, I love my AirBuds sooooo much. I only use my nice cans on my computer anymore.
That’s a different use case though. Falling asleep with cheap speakers is a much better idea than big speakers… My partner and I leave shows or long VODs on to sleep, and even with the bass all the way down, sometimes I feel like it’s a bit distracting.
You’re onto something—I should snag us a pair of 2.0 speakers and just switch to those for sleep. Then we wouldn’t have to adjust the sub all the time.
It’s strange - in the UK we’re usually getting toasty this time of year too, but we’ve had unusually mild weather despite many other parts of the world experiencing record temperatures. Feels like the mildest summer we’ve had in about 10 years.
This might be because we’re in an ill niño weather event. This brings hot coast to the southern hemisphere particularly South America. And it means the North is cooler particularly north Europe and Canada. This will flip back and forth over the years
God, I wish there was less monopolies in the world, I hate when there is no alternative other than a product developed and maintained by evil corporation that profits off of selling my data.
Anyway, the only browser that everyone should use is Chrome, if you don’t use Chrome you’re dead to me.
I got permabanned as "antisemitic" for criticizing Israeli politics. That this is a quite common tool used by the Israeli government to shut down any criticism of their actions is nothing new. But to see this applied in a subreddit actually surprised me.
Used to get flagged as a suicide risk when interacting with the IDF foreign relations department. Saying things like the people in sheikh Jarrah deserve to live there.
Youtube search fix: This is not a extension but if you save this as a bookmark javascript:location.href=location.href+‘&sp=CAASAhAB’; in your browser it can be used to remove youtubes recommended / “people also watched” videos from a search.
To use it, search for something on youtube and then click the bookmark you have made and it will then reload the search page and only show listings for what you searched for and remove youtubes recommended / “people also watched" videos from the search.
EDIT: and a fancier option is to use Redirector, Request Control (or similar) to create a redirection from YT searches without the CAASAhAB query param to the one with it.
All those wonderful people are all just passionate firefox users, and you could be one too! All have have to do is get firefox! Please get firefox, it’s great! You should totally get firefox!
It’s important to note that Mozilla Foundation is a non-profit organization, whereas Brave Software Inc. is a company that sells products. Mozilla get money from recurrent donations, while Brave gets more money the more users use their software and services, like any other company. Which means that only Brave has interest in hiring shills. And a fucking meme posted on a niche social network is different than a fake review, ffs.
I just read a micro vs. nano. But each point in favor of micro was “i have that already in nano”. Syntax highlighting, status bar with col/line, undo/redo, even mouse support.
I like both. But many people don’t even realize that nano has quite a lot of configuration options. To me, they’re text editors, not code editors. For code, I use VSCode (or “code”, the FOSS variant).
