Used em for nearly 20 years but their newer stuff has some reduced build quality in favour of aesthetics. The model I bought had particularly bad coil whine (as did it’s RMA replacement) so I shifted from them.
my new gigabyte mobo also has an annoyingly loud constant buzzing sound, extremely slow post and comically buggy bios. a few friends had to rma their gb mobos because DOA, loose ram slots, instability etc… also my gpu is gigabyte 3060ti and it has a lot of problems too, nvidia is mostly to blame but i think it’s gigabytes fault that the fans minimum speed is very loud, around 1200 rpm. the fans are normally off but the temps climb to around 60c even when idle, then fans go WROOOOOOM for a few mins and then turn off. my new case has air intake at the bottom, 2x 140 mm fans blowing right into the gpu but still the damn gpu fans sometimes turn on even when just watching a video. and it’s not because of dust, the heatsink is perfectly clean.
Year 1066 problems just aren’t as relevant in today’s political and social climate. William of Orange totally would have had a sick sword themed gaming PC though
Probably not. They were in use for a much longer time, but population sizes and army sizes were much smaller during those times. Also, they are less deadly.
It’s a motherboard aimed at higher end fps clan play, it’s a relevant object on a relevant object.
So I say again, rpg themed system with a sword on it. Offensive?
Cars and drugs on a GTA themed system. Offensive?
I think you’re just picking something benign to be upset about in the most safe time in human history. Statistically you were more likely to be murdered in 1950 before the gun worship culture was as prevalent then today. Teach, compassion, life skills and critical thinking, fear mongering over inanimates isn’t particularly useful.
Go tell people in third world countries or first Nations that guns have made their life safer than any other time in history and see what they have to say about that.
And yeah, a drug themed motherboard would be fucking offensive, what an idiotic question!
Historically there is and statistically gun violence is lower now than ever before hence no epidemic. It’s just what you see most on the news because that’s how they hold your attention and make their money.
They’d agree.
How? You don’t have to buy it. I’m sure you own some shit other people find offensive, what of it?
While 2021 saw the highest total number of gun deaths in the U.S., this statistic does not take into account the nation’s growing population. On a per capita basis, there were 14.6 gun deaths per 100,000 people in 2021 – the highest rate since the early 1990s, but still well below the peak of 16.3 gun deaths per 100,000 people in 1974.
Highest since the early 1990s, doesn’t sound like it’s lower than ever before to me, right?
Hey I’d settle for 10 million likes on YouTube… In views alone thats worth like $100k in ad revenue. But given that likes are typically only 10% of viewership, that means a video liked by 10 million probably has 100 million views. Which is about $1 million in ad revenue for just that video, assuming a low end payout of $0.01 per view.
That’s not a low end payout per view. Typically it’s a fraction of a cent (USD) per view. Typically ads pay out per 1000 views, and the average of that is $0.38. To make the math easier, we’ll call it $0.50 per 1000 views, or $0.0005 per view. On top of this, YouTube takes their 45% cut, which means you’re looking at more like $0.00025 per view. Of course, that’s the average, and for a larger channel with the right audience you’re more likely to see a CPM (cost per mille, mille being 1000 in French) of a few dollars. Let’s call it $5.00, which would come to a CPM of $0.005, or roughly $0.0025 after YouTube takes their cut. That’s still $25,000 for 10 million views, which is a ton of money, but I think people have a tendency to overinflate how much money comes from Youtube ads.
I just went sailing for a few days. On the small sailboat, we don’t have a fridge onboard. Stuff like this can be stored in room temperature, so I can definitely see the appeal for it.
You can actually change this in your settings. You will absolutely be able to find something of your taste. Usually your phone generates a few combinations for you to choose from based on your wallpaper. I do agree that this particular combination in this screenshot is ugly however.
No, no, no. It’s clearly a city since the photo is flight info boards. Clearly he means Dallas Tort Worth, it’s a little tiny place unlike its bigger brother DFW.
The cause is a malfunction of the Crowdstrike monitoring solution, which employees use to spy at anything ever done on company hardware. They do have a Linux version and it has been reported to cause kernel panics (not sure if during this incident).
it was because crowdstrike themselves notified that this specific instance did not affect their linux nor osx distributions of security, and was windows specific.
Should have not trusted a third party to install proprietary code into the kernel. It’s not a Windows issue directly, they have a Linux version too, but anything that allows third parties to put proprietary code into your kernel and automatically update it without your approval is untrustworthy.
Probably coincidence? It sounds (???) like this is a pretty simple fix on Windows.
The number of times I have borked my Linux machines so they wouldn’t boot is, well, greater than zero for sure. Any operating system can be bricked to the point of requiring manual intervention by software with elevated privileges.
