Molecular0079 , to gaming in What are your thoughts on crouch jumping?

I’ve always hated it and thought it was a stupid untuitive mechanic that didn’t map to anything in real life. It also looks equally stupid in multiplayer when you see player character models spasm their way up a ledge during a crouch jump. It’s an old school mechanic that I am glad is going out of fashion due to better vault controls.

like a simulation of pulling your legs up in real life.

You don’t pull your legs up in real life though, you use your hands to vault onto something. You can’t just swap stances in mid air without holding onto anything. Even if you were talking about box jumps, like the kinds you normally do at a gym, it still isn’t anything remotely like a crouch jump. Also anyone doing a box jump in an actual combat situation just looks goofy.

Any time a game explicitly has a tutorial for crouch jump, my immersion is completely broken. I am instantly reminded that it is a game.

A reminder to drink water folks.

nothacking , to insanepeoplefacebook in This shows that Darwin theory failed.

4000 thousands years ago humans were farming, living in cities and just starting to figure out writing.

Given how nicely centered the impression is, this was probably intentional, a very old foot selfie.

Fry is also struggling as the hummingbirds keep dive-bombing him so he has to lay on his back.

I’m against gouging the gullible, but the bias is mostly because it would mean predation of my family and already fragile support network…

However… gooning dino kink for £25k sounds greyish boarder legit. Where’s the Khan academy 411?

tomkatt , to linuxmemes in What can I say, I didn't want to wait on my provider lol

Give me more of this and less of the politics. This is what I come to Lemmy for.

Librewolf. I yearn for something better for ios. I’m sticking woth firefox because all my tabs & shit are synced.

Viking_Hippie , to science_memes in The low effort presentation of the tenured prof is often way better btw

To be fair, the meme shows her ( Kim Yeji of South Korea) from a tense angle, unlike the one from her original viral pic

Also, afaik, they both won silver and she broke the Olympic record before her compatriot Oh Ye Jin broke THAT record to take the gold.

Basically, they’re super cool in each their way, he’s just older and prefers regular glasses over the actually pretty standard for the sport headgear she sports.

Bonus info: that cute plush elephant she has hanging from her belt? That belongs to her 5yo daughter back in South Korea.

I highly recommend this The Athletic piece about her.

One last bit of trivia: the author shares a name with a New Girl character and it’s not Coach 😛

Zakkull ,

Its a joke.

I like Graham Hancock. He’s got some neat theories. Are they truth? Dunno. Am I gonna hassle some academic and be a dick about something because of them? No.

Remember back before someone put together the orientation of the Pyramids at Giza and Orion’s Belt? It was pretty astonishing if one had lived with the Pyramids for a long time and saw them as just sort of misaligned for ? reasons. Some guy had to get razzed for twenty years to get that out there before the interwebs.

We’ve over-compensated a bit, yeah.

TheFriar ,

I’ve literally never heard he name. Want to hit me with some of his most interesting theories?

ATDA , to retrogaming in It's honestly good advice, but I much prefer original hardware when possible.

Both are awesome.

One for general use, not scuffing up my gear or games, travel, etc.

The other when I want to really have a beer and just retro out for an afternoon.

I never really cared until I emulated Super Mario RPG and literally could not make a specific jump in Booster’s Castle because of the frame skipping. I never have any trouble on an actual SNES there. Can’t ever make it emulated. :/

Mozingo ,
@Mozingo@lemmy.world avatar

Why do you even have frameskipping enabled on a snes game? Surely you can emulate it at full speed?

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

Can’t turn it off on the android version of snes9x, where I usually emulate retro games.
