Seeing a mountain biker and an equestrianeer both go down so hard that they took an involuntary nappy makes me feel a lot better about not going outside. Yes, I should play more video games.
External video card would probably work well now that you mention it. But at that point, for what I want to use it for, I might as well do an Intel Mini PC since it would use less power.
But good project idea if I ever want to set up a Minecraft server.
Same setup as you, fan and NVMe and I can play 720-1080p video without any issues from all of the streaming platforms I’ve tried so far as well as local files. Also streaming 1080p 60Hz gameplay from my gaming setup over LAN with no problems.
I can’t remember what video game it was but the pylons remind me of this multi-legged baddie that would swing its legs and SLAM you hard. Might have been Diablo 3.
I just want to say, for all the discussion of ‘could they have…’ it’s important to remember that Germany was never going to conquer Russia, it was a stupid (racist) idea to get Hitlers ‘lebensraum’ and take out Stalin’s ‘Jewish Bolshevist’ nation (heavy on the eye-roll there). Keep in mind that Germany didn’t even get Moscow, which Napoleon had actually managed to (mostly) do, and Napoleon still lost for the same reason that Germany would have regardless – they did not have the logistical ability to support an army in an area the size of Russia. Partisan/army elements would absolutely pick apart a logistical train that long, which Germany couldn’t have done any way. We have to remember Germany wasn’t an actual mechanized army, it was entirely dependent on horses, and to try to use horses to haul ammunition/food/clothes/medical supplies/artillery shells/etc ~1500 kilometres from Germany to Moscow alone would be insane, especially with the millions of men and women the Soviet union had constantly attacking you.
The entire invasion was never going to work, and people give the idea it could have worked way too much credit. And this is all assuming no other nation would step in either; it’s entirely on the ‘nobody is in an alliance anymore’ sort of fantasy world. This failed for the exact same reason that the Russian invasion of Ukraine has – they planned for a short, easy war, because their entire ideology requires that they underestimate their foes at every available opportunity.
One aspect that is often overlooked is how reduced in strength the German forces were at the start of Barbarossa. Sure, they took Poland and France very quickly, but they suffered enough losses that Barbarossa started at reduced strength, and once the initial maneuvers of the invasion were over Germany was pretty much running on fumes manpower-wise.
Don’t bother, you’ve already shown yourself incapable of determining what is a reliable source and what is utter horse manure. No good will come from further study.
I loved the different story paths and choices for Honest Hearts. The history of the tribes, >!Joshua Graham, Yao Guai, accepting the vision quest and fighting a ghost!<, such a blast.
And with the Wild Wasteland trait >!you get to meet my boy Two-Bears-High-Fiving.!<
The issue is trying to run a video in firefox. Web browsers consume a lot of resources and don’t use hardware efficently for stuff like video playing. Instead you need to take some time and figure out how to use a native video player application which better uses the SBC hardware.
Its important to me to be able to conserve system resources. I have revived lots of old PCs new over the years to run up to date operating systems for friends and family. I am also a big fan of watching youtube. The strategy I came up over the years is this:
Install the latest versions of mpv, smplayer, and smtube. Its important to use a distro that keeps these software repos up to date. Use smtube to select a youtube video, it sends it to smplayer which downloads the latest yt-dlp. If everything is up to date, it plays great.
I have a 15 year old laptop that is finally having a hard time running latest linux mint xfce. I wanted to revive it this week so I gave mx linux a shot on it. Installing these programs right from MX’s software repositiories was a breeze. Youtube played effortlessly! MX is pretty minimal and im sure most pis can run it okay, so give it a shot if you want a OS with up to date repos for these packages if youtube is one of your main concerns.
Once you get youtube videos playing, go into settings of smtube to change the web page from tonvid to an invidious instance. Add a custom invidious instance. Pick one thats ideally from your country and that lets you register an account. That way you can import subscriptions and personalize stuff.
Only hiccup is when using smtube to load an invidious site; the default language will be some foreign language. Make sure you know how to go to settings in invidious and change to english.
