Gmail has had a problem for a while where people can send you spam calendar invites and they’ll automatically get added to your calendar.

ytsedude , to mildlyinteresting in I found this creepy mysterious calendar entry on my smartphone

Do you have kids…?

herrcaptain ,

This would be a pretty interesting way of finding out.

LemmyKnowsBest OP ,

If someone doesn’t know that they have children, this would not lend any clues.

LemmyKnowsBest OP ,

Yes but they are fully grown and they live 2000 miles away from me. They are a lot more tech savvy than I am though and someone else commented here that Google has a functionality in which people can send calendar entries to other people’s calendars.

Maybe my hilarious playful brilliant kids did that.

Something like that would be way beyond my price range. I’ll be lucky if I can afford a metal plaque.

Butt dialing.

LemmyKnowsBest OP ,

Yes that seems most likely but the choice of characters doesn’t look like the result of a pocket dial because those emojis are nowhere near each other in the list of selections, and they are not emojis that I ever use.

This talk of people as corporations reminds me of Mike Merrill who divided himself into 100k shares and actually got investors. Now he lives at the behest of his 805 shareholders, who decide everything for him. What he wears, where he works, what he has for breakfast, and he pays them a portion of his income as shareholders. As of right now, his shares can be purchased on his website for $5.25 a share.

Just lettuce? No pork or shrimp? Some have noodles in them too.

Oh this is very bad indeed. It seems you’ve been targeted - this is a threat from some pretty bad dudes. The first part is code for their organization…then it says they’re first gonna wilt (kill) that puppy you love, and then it says you better enjoy living that circus life because next comes the grave. Also they will move into your house and celebrate. Wow man, please be safe…

FilthyHands ,

I need this on my bathroom wall.

Nurse_Robot ,

So sad, that’s how my best friend in high school died. The only way to stop it is by sending the invite to 5 other people

Empricorn ,

But you get some time at the circus in there, so it’s not all bad!

TachyonTele , to mildlyinteresting in I found this creepy mysterious calendar entry on my smartphone

I would show up to it, just fashionably late. Could be fun.

ccunning , to lemmyshitpost in No matter what I do before I die, I will not have a gravestone this cool.

Why would you have a gravestone before you die?

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Because, in general, the carvers don’t accept a dead person’s Mastercard.

ccunning ,

Well I hope you don’t live in an apartment. It would be awkward sitting next to your tombstone on the sofa…

tacosanonymous ,

But if you die next to it, it’s a neat story for first responders.

Also, it’s super convenient and you get to pick your own.

enbyecho ,

make the tombstone the sofa… problem solved

I do prefer a firmer sofa…🤔

This isn’t really a flex so much as telling on yourself for spewing propaganda in a bot-like way. These bots do exist. If you sound and act like them, that’s on you.

optissima ,

This comment was obviously written by a bot trying to accuse others of being bots to throw you off, don’t believe they’re definitely a bot because they’re spewing propaganda in a bot-like way!

tory ,

Wow, accusing others of being bots to cover up your own bot-ness? Classic move. As an AI model myself, I can spot bot behavior from a mile away, and you’ve got ‘bot’ written all over you!

In a similar vein:

“A silvery thing in another cabinet, like a three-pointed star inside a circle, was made of no substance she knew; it was softer than metal, scratched and gouged, yet even older than any of the ancient bones. From ten paces she could sense pride and vanity.”

From the Wheel of Time.
