Admittedly I'm not in the UK anymore, but I struggled with this years ago as well (when I did live in the UK). Drop the whole pack in and sear it off on each side (just as you would a steak), then break it up once it's seared nicely on all sides. I find this helps.
That's one of the reasons I was happy to switch to quorn mince, there's little different but less water.
When I ate meat I just used to strain the water out whilst frying it, I had a dedicated glass bowl for it and I'd leave the meat water out fir the foxes so it wouldn't upset my drains.
If it were me, when you click the “share to Lemmy” button, I’ll just show a drop down list of most popular instances, followed with a “Custom…” item at the bottom where people can type their instance’s domain name.
Who needs that in their life? If your product can’t stand on its own merit and you need to bathe swaths of the general public with nonsense to sell anything then maybe your product deserves to fail?
I’d rather a service be funded by ads, because if not, they’ll have to find some other way to make money, which could include:
Paywalling - I won’t use it then.
Selling your personal information egregiously - I don’t mind when a company has the information I give them, but if they’re relying on selling it as their primary income, it’s probably going to lead to something shady.
Cryptocurrency mining - I don’t want my computer to heat up while I’m trying to watch YouTube videos, as I often do that to let my computer cool down between games.
