They re-enable some things, restoring support would’ve been fixing it up if something breaks.

Is it just me or does the headline not fit the article

Contend6248 ,

My thoughts exactly, Garuda looks out of the box like a install i’m done with and have to redo.

But to each their own, i’m not judging, i was young not too long ago.

Contend6248 ,

Their numbers from that category are from 2018, wild article in my opinion, wouldn’t have to be too hard to have more up-to-date numbers.

Contend6248 ,

Suse? No evil dipshits and on par with RHEL, at least how far i can see

Contend6248 ,

And my houshold 😁

Ther is for sure a 2.5k line powershell script from someone totally trustworthy which fixes this issue though

Contend6248 ,

Done already, they are ahead of you guys Pic

Contend6248 ,

Fuck me, there is no worse way automating things

Contend6248 ,

Sorry, but i couldn’t reupload the picture on my instance

Contend6248 ,

Even with premium Linux support, who in their right mind would run that shit with kernel access

Contend6248 ,

No reason to do that, as long as stuff goes over the table it will stay that way

Contend6248 ,

Dolphin on KDE/Linux and WinSCP on Windows

Contend6248 ,

It’s not useless for brainless users sadly

Contend6248 ,

It surely does, but i’m not sure if you can switch to side-by-side view

Contend6248 ,

Wait, what are the things Debian and Arch are alike?

Contend6248 ,

Ever used software of car manufacturers? Turns out limiting themselves to the case radio is enough.

Contend6248 ,

Obviously not impossible, just the best reason for open source software

Contend6248 ,

As the result of a change in the city’s government, to leave LiMux and at the time, critics of the decision blamed the mayor and deputy mayor and cast a suspicious eye on the US software giant’s decision to move its headquarters to Munich.

Just a coincidence.

Contend6248 ,

Well think again, Germany invests in open source.

sciencebusiness.net/…/germany-launch-sovereign-te…

The fund will rise with the savings for sure

Contend6248 ,

Not being held hostage by one US company should be a priority by much more countries

Contend6248 ,

If you check it and run it through a course and a decent one year guarantee, you should be fine. If it doesn’t fail then it won’t fail for quite some time.

Just make sure to put it in some RAID or parity

I just swapped my >10 year old WD Reds with refurbished used drives at 1/3 of the price, just because i need more space, these things last if you take some care.

Contend6248 ,

Politics going for worthless easy quick wins instead of lasting changes for the better has a history of it’s own.

Contend6248 ,

Nuff said

Contend6248 ,

All you get is a base to work with, i have never had a working solution out of there. They tend to create commands and parameters which aren’t existing just because it would be logical, it works like a naive brain.

It is a glorified Google search and won’t replace any tech workers for quite some time, or never. I would compare it with a calculator for techies, if you have no idea what you’re doing you won’t get anything out of it.

Contend6248 ,

True, but the point ist that it’s worthless without a person

Contend6248 ,

First GDPR now this, they don’t give one fuck and try to cash out

Movies too dark in HDR?

Since KDE plasma 6 with hdr support came out recently, I decided to check how some of the hdr tagged movies I’d watched previously look with that. I was surprised to see that they are rather dark, even in scenes under direct sunlight. I ‘tested’ the brightness by opening the movie in hdr and sdr at the same time and...

Contend6248 ,

Common OpenSUSE W, only ticked HDR in screen settings and everything worked

Contend6248 ,

Not at all, but i’m using AMD, it’s plug and play

Contend6248 ,

Only because we don’t have any tech giants, we’ve slept on it so we get the money this way and try to slow down others until we figure shit out.

You can see that we don’t care about consumer that much in markets we’re strong.

It’s just lobbyism

Contend6248 ,

Yes, if only the rest of the world would be so selfless.

Contend6248 ,

Checkmate, amiright.

Contend6248 ,

I’m enjoying ethernet on my phone too

Contend6248 ,

Problem solved i guess, that’s progression.

Avast fined $16.5 million for ‘privacy’ software that actually sold users’ browsing data (www.theverge.com)

Avast, the cybersecurity software company, is facing a $16.5 million fine after it was caught storing and selling customer information without their consent. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) announced the fine on Thursday and said that it’s banning Avast from selling user data for advertising purposes.

Contend6248 ,

A great business model actually

Contend6248 ,

A good example would be Yuzu (the Switch emulator), it was open source and collected so much telemetry that Nintendo might go after their users.

This might be fear tactic but it shows you that you aren’t safe

Contend6248 ,

Hack the planet?! Finally.

My guess is that Microsoft will notify the users often enough, that’s something we don’t know in the smartphone space, we’ll see what happens

Contend6248 ,

So 5-10 years after Windows EOL

Contend6248 ,

Yes, the majority of people are content creator or playing multiplayer games with kernel level anti-cheat and know the difference between 4k and 720p.

Don’t overestimate the bubble

Everything moves to browser based, by that time, the OS won’t matter, Microsoft realized that too.

Contend6248 ,

You don’t have to go all in, use Steam for purchased games, and use the already created Lutris templates on everything else.

Proton-QT is for updating Proton used by Lutris.

Contend6248 ,

You could easily make it modular, that would’ve cost a dollar more, so that won’t happen.

Contend6248 ,

By that time they’re far gone, just a cashgrab
