That’s the amazing thing. In about a month Reddit went from a well liked company to hated. I would love see the cross section of premium users used third party clients. Reddit just torched all good will for nothing.
I was a premium subscriber, simply because I used Reddit a lot, I could financially bear it, and I generally liked how the place was run so I wanted to support them. Now I feel betrayed and my trust is violated, like when your friend borrows money off you and then never pays it back and just laughs in your face for being so naive. So I went from ‘I love Reddit’ to ‘fuck Reddit’ in about a month. Impressive achievement.
I’m ashamed to admit I’m a former reddit premium member. I canceled my subscription after being a paying member for a number of years the day Spez started his bullshit. I just can’t see myself going back. I just need to find an instance for my country that’s actually active.
I loved Reddit, and I still love Reddit. I love so many little communities. And although I am persuaded that the fediverse is the future, I would go back in a heartbeat if it managed to regrow a soul. I happily paid for premium back in the day.
By what scale? Medieval peasants only had to pay 10% in taxes and got sooooo much free time. Technology even today is still bad for us, but nature and free time? Come on, what’s the point of having all these gadgets and what not if we don’t have the time to use them, and they’re all run by faceless corporations who make things as addictive and monetized as possible?
Productivity. That’s what you want to compare to wages, and it has definitely increased faster than wages, so why aren’t the workers being paid proportionately to their increased productivity?
Care to have a conversation and not just repeat random excerpts you read from a textbook?
So tell me, how exactly are we expected to consume all those goods in that basket that are used to measure inflation, when we are not paid in proportion to our increased productivity? Do those goods just pay for themselves with wages we do not receive?
Experience? If you say so, again just sounds like you’re quoting a textbook.
If you’re referring to experience all the way back to your quality of life comment, how old are you? Quality of life has definitely dropped since baby boomers were in their 20s and 30s and 40s
Sure we have netflix, we’re all interconnected and have instant access to information on the internet, but we can’t raise a family on a single income, we can’t pay off college or university with a single year of a summer job
In what way has quality of life dropped? We wouldn’t be having this conversation 10 years ago. I enjoy being able to experience an open source platform such as Lemmy, from my smartphone while getting drunk and lounging about at home. I couldn’t have done that without advancements in technology. I feel like that improves my quality of life at no cost. An example of how my life is improved, regardless of wages.
I’m paying devils advocate. I’m all for wages increasing for the average person. I just want people the feel happy for all the amazing things we have in our modern world.
This is the best malicious compliance so far, still reddit could 'force' them to remove the approval restriction.
But subreddits like pics doing the john oliver thing are completely missing the point, reddit dont care if they do that, it's still getting thousands of views and upvotes because its 'cool and funny', its such a 'we did it reddit' moment. Just stop using reddit, let the subreddits go to shit with no moderation, make a sticky linking to alternatives.
Does anybody adjust the tyre pressure due to weight in the car? Surely driving with larger weight in the boot would require a difficult psi/bar for the tyres?
Only on holidays. If I pick up some furniture, I don’t bother, but when I’m driving for one or two days straight with 4 people and luggage in the car, yes definitely. It helps that I can check/adjust my tire pressure where I wash my car every two weeks. I’m really particular about the handling of my car and the tires I drive on, so I’m always on top of the correct pressure.
As an actual Android dev, these are incredibly useful. But on every phone I’ve owned, changing the animation speeds to 0.5 feels great. OS feels so much smoother
