For me, it’s just kidney stones. I usually get at least a couple a year. Could be worse though. Only last about a day.

Fondots , to pics in [OC]One of the only good things about flying is looking out the window.

Looking down on clouds is a pretty surreal experience

I once went on a backpacking trip, our itinerary had us camping near the top of a mountain, just a little shy of 12,000ft and we knew there would be no potable water at the top, so we had our hot meal for the day at lunch since freeze dried backpacking food needs water, so we could refill and get through the next day.

As we’re making our way up the mountain, a thick fog rolls in. By the time we get to camp, we’re all pretty miserable, we’re tired and starting to feel the altitude a little, everything is cold and damp, we have a dinner of jerky and trail mix and such, we set up our tents and go the fuck to sleep.

The next day we wake up, the fog has gone, and it’s a beautiful day. We make our way to the top of the mountain and look down at the valley below and we see a cloud.

It then dawned on us that the fog the night before wasn’t just fog, it was a cloud we hiked through and set up camp in.

The next time a mattress salesman tries to give you the “it’s like sleeping on a cloud” line, fucking run, clouds suck.

OOTL: what is it supposed to mean?

SturgiesYrFase , (edited )
@SturgiesYrFase@lemmy.ml avatar

The reason it’s there, that 9/10 of a cent or pence or w.e is the same reason why lot’s of prices are $XX.99. It seems like it’s a lot cheaper than the 1 cent or 1/10th of a cent that it actually is. For fuel specifically, it started to be added so that gas stations could pay new taxes implemented in 1934(USA), but still make a profit. Back then the cost/gal of fuel was pennies, so adding a full cent to the cost to cover those taxes was deemed a deal breaker, since sometimes it would be ½-¼ 1/10 the cost of the gallon.

I just LOVE how you marxists/commies/leftists/progressives can only blame capitalism. When are you going to look at your government and blame your government for its spending? How the hell do you and your ilk function while ignoring the abuses of your government toward you and everyone around you, every single citizen of your nation? Instead lmao… you want to blame capitalism and only capitalism, not corrupt politicians, not their policies, not their agendas.

Amaaaaaaaazing. Purely awestruck.

SLVRDRGN ,

you want to blame capitalism and only capitalism, not corrupt politicians, not their policies, not their agendas.

Could you not say that the forces of capitalism have brought about the greed, justification, etc. that leads to corrupt politicians, policies, agendas?

indepndnt ,

(Pam meme) they’re the same picture

StaySquared ,

The blame falls on the receiving end of money.

They should have known better than to accept money that will override the will of its people/constituents.

C126 ,

I think it’s more due “corporatism”, where government and certain privileged large corporations work together to enrich themselves at the sake of others. Technically not really capitalism, which is just a system of trade which uses capital rather than barter to facilitate trade. It’s important to be clear on these things if we want to fix problems.

UltraGiGaGigantic , (edited )

Whatever idealized version of capitalism that is in your head is only a temporary state as the economic system regresses towards its natural end stage.

Its true, I don’t know which way of life is “the way”.

What I do I know is that the way of life we have is a piece of shit… has always been a piece of shit… and will continue to be a bigger and bigger piece of shit until we collectively flush it.

We need to try new things till something works. Fuck the status quo. Fuck the 1% who wishes they could be kings.

How do we effect societal change? We first need to get our hands on the wheel. We need more then two political parties so there is competition in the electoral process. We need new fresh ideas, not the dinosaurs of both legacy political parties.

We can get that with state level electoral reform. With a more representative voting system (such as, but not limited to Ranked Choice voting) people could vote for who best represents them, secure in the knowledge that their vote will still be counted if their preference didn’t win.

If the democrats and Republicans are to weak to compete because of the many many years of using First Past The Post voting as a crutch… that’s on them.

If you want a similar minded game but a different thematic an genre, try Munchkin.

It’s a really good card game with goofy things like a weapon called Swiss Halberd (yes, it’s like a Swiss knife but pole arms), or the monster “Amazon” which do not attack female characters, or the “Whine at the GM”, which gets you a free level.

If you have a small group of friends to play with, it’s a blast.

TVA ,
@TVA@thebrainbin.org avatar

They each have their place imo, but I'd agree that A2A can definitely require more creativity and two people being on the same wavelength rather than CAH where the cards do almost all of the heavy lifting.

jjjalljs ,

I’ve always thought the same. Apples to apples you have to be a little creative. Cards against humanity is like playing a shooter with an aimbot.

Breezy ,

But you gotta take out all the utter shit cards. The game is so much fun with a tenth of the proper noun cards.
