That’s a ripoff. I imagine that theater is a lot nicer than the one nearest to me but tickets are usually $12 for an adult and $6 for a child. But on Wednesdays all tickets are $6 regardless of age. They call it date night but you don’t have to bring a date. You can even come alone. Or so I’ve been told ಥ_ಥ
The popcorn isn’t even all that expensive either, but the drinks are. I think mostly because drinks are the easiest to sneak in.
“Read” means they are displayed in your browser. I used to have Twitter open and hit reload once in a while during work, I definitely loaded more than 300 Tweets per day, especially when clicking on an interesting one once in a while loading all the replies automatically.
Ahha, as I suspected. Of course, despite having stats for each and every tweet in database, they wouldn’t even care to check if some particular tweet was loaded for the user. That’s not an issue though, Twitter is just a walled garbage.
Hello. I am a moderator of this community. Just commenting here to let you know you can use bad language in a lemmy and in this server. No need to censor yourself. We don’t give a fuck.
It seems to default to showing a feed from just the instance you’re on, ie. Local. But I like to see stuff from all over the world. There are more servers than the one you’re on and there’s communities on other instances you can join.
Go to Settings… and on that page there’s an option to select the “Type” between “Subscribed|Local|All”
There’s also a selector at the top of the page, but setting it in the settings will make it the one you want when you load the page. Since you’re new, you’re not subscribed to anything so there won’t be anything there. If it’s Local, you won’t be able to find stuff on other instances. I think going with “All” makes more sense at first, at least until you’re subscribed to the communities you like.
I cabt find that setting on either mobile browser or Jerboa… I’ll keep looking though. I’m very new to Lemmy but I’m planning on staying. Reddit sucks now.

I got it very late in its lifespan, just a few years ago, and I feel that a lot. I remember the proprietary memory cards being the major issue I had that prevented me from buying one originally, and they’re even more of an issue now that they’re out of production and the ones available are aging.
Thankfully, the homebrew scene provided workarounds to use microSD, but you lose the ability to play cartridges easily, so I haven’t done so myself.
It’s really a great console though. Basically a pocket PS2.5 I’d say. Sometimes closer to a pocket PS3. Plus the ability to play cross platform PS3 games, certain PS2 remasters, and Sonys (then) whole offering of PS1 ports really opens up the library on top of the smattering of quality Native Vita titles it had.
Dude do remember when the PS4 launched and it had the remote play function? I thought that was so cool. Things like that to me showed me that Sony was really making new leaps for handheld, but just kinda gave up?
Yes it does. It’s a hard setting for your Lemmy profile that is applied to your account, which effects your apps. Some apps allow you to change this in the settings.
Good to see Lemmy grow, but I hope that the decentralization will work out so that the large influx of new users will spread out as evenly as possible. General purpose instances help balancing the load, and last time I checked join-lemmy.org there have been several general purpose instances, which seems promising.
I think once people start to figure out just HOW the Fediverse works, they’ll start spreading out. I joined beehaw originally, then they defedereated from lemmy.world, which is where most of the communities were that I had subscribed to. That’s why I joined lemmy.world…
so far i think that process is going to be a bit of a barrier for the average user… so many logins. i understand that decentralization carries this burden, but i’m not sure it’s worth it for me personally, and i think i may be slightly more inclined that the average user to jump through those hoops. we shall see.
The decentralization has its warta for sure. I’m curious how it’s all going to play out. As an example I’m in IT so not an idiot but I’m registered on InfoSec.pub. now I’ve learned there’s better “home” nodes but even though the comments are federated I can’t login to a node that isn’t my “home” node which is weird to say the least.
Same here. I thought you only needed one login for all the servers but that hasn’t been the case for me. I’m hoping I find a good app that makes the experience more seemless.

You do only need one login, where you’re going wrong is trying to actually log in to those different instances. Instead, you can subscribe and post and comment in them from your home instance 🙂
It’s like email in that sense. You can’t log into Hotmail with your Gmail account but you can still access all the content on Hotmail through your Gmail account.
Convenience of driving to the cinema with kids and dealing with their shenanigans, then finally getting in the cinema where they sit and watch the film for 2 hours without disturbing you. You are paying for that convenience.
