23.6 million is still really high for a new social platform. I don’t know if it’s sustainable as I don’t see how people popular for images can translate their fame to microblogging but the next year or 6 months will be helpful to know if this was successful.
I think people popular for anything could easily include microblogging, as long as they also keep doing the original thing. Lots of celebs, internet and otherwise, fare alright. It's a chance to worsen the parasocial relationship "become closer to their fans," and all they have to do is not be racist. Usually.
If any of my artists have a blogging platform, I usually read it out of curiosity
Yeah. But tbh a LOT of threads activity is bots. It’s been very clear from the get go that the numbers have been inflated using bots. More and more social media companies are going to use bots to inflate their numbers now.
I honestly can’t figure out what anyone actually likes about tiktok. I installed it and after 30 minutes was annoyed with the autoplaying and having things just forced on me. I want to choose what to play. All the time, I hate anything anywhere that autoplays, and I don’t understand how anyone actually enjoys that. Its like being told that being poked in the eye with a needle was really popular.
It feeds an anxious brain’s desire for dopamine. Just “here’s a nonstop feed of easy to digest content.” I think it’s kinda predatory, tbh, and that’s not to get into anything else about the company
But people don’t up or down vote based on whether your contribution is valuable, they do it based on whether they like what you have to say. The the result being an echo chamber. If you just want people to parrot your own opinions and thoughts back at you I respect your decision but it sounds boring as shit to me.
People keep submitting this sort of post like it’s unexpected.
They think Lemmy can grow into a legitimate platform, but the one with millions of users and backed by one of the largest companies on the planet, which already runs social media platforms, is doomed…
My hatred of blackberries is unending. I’m angry enough that I have to mow the grass, but there is nothing I loathe more than having to regularly take a machete to the encroaching mass of thorny monsters that are invading my yard and attempting to make it uninhabitable by my children. If I was given the option to make any species of any living thing immediately extinct, I would choose blackberries without a moment’s hesitation, and then throw a party to celebrate the oppression I’ve been freed from.
I took back a half acre of those things. Believe me when I say that I am 100% with you. I wish a blight wipes them out so much. If you are able, digging up the ball root makes removing them easier. They are almost impossible to eradicate but if you can get the root ball out, they are totally weakened. I bought a pawn shop weed eater and those plastic blades. I went through so many blades and the weed eater died a sad long death.
