I worked in Alaska at a canning plant for a salmon season once. All the men lived in one bunk house and we shared a bathroom with shower stalls…
there was one guy that thought it was the funnest thing in the world to leave a log in the shower he used that morning…
it happened so often that they called a meeting with everyone in the men’s bunk house. Just to tell us if it happened again someone would get sent home on their dollar ($1300 plane ride home). He pretended to be super grossed out and kept saying things like “this isn’t funny guys” and “this needs to stop”… sigh.
Anyways… he worked on the loading dock and got hit in the mouth by a crane. Broke all his teeth. the company payed $30,000 to get him a new set.
I doubt medics really want to bankrupt anyone. They’re usually the lowest paid out of any emergency service. Police and fire departments are paid way higher.
My area: ~$56k - Average police starting salary
~$59k - Average fire starting salary
~$32k - Average basic EMT
~$34k - Average advanced EMT
~$39k - Average paramedic
Blame the big pharmaceutical companies and corporate takeover of hospitals and small clinics for the insanity of medical costs. The absolute shitshow that insurance has become is also a large contributor. It’s bad enough that doctors are finding it much simpler to work for corporations instead of owning their own practice because it’s easier for the big company to fight the other big company.
I really liked Obduction. It was a rock solid puzzle game but omg the loading screens were a huge detractor. You had to move between multiple areas to solve some of the puzzles and to do so you got a loading screen which took it’s toll on the immersion factor.
Despite appearances, the gull wing doors don’t actually require that much horizontal clearance. There are videos online showing you only need a few inches
Ow damn. Weird seeing my city and a car that I know. The owner lives in my apartment complex. There are some ‘main character’-parking-toddlers living at my place that get my blood boiling every time they try to redefine the lines on the parking lot.
I was gonna comment something northern, like Groningen, but on close inspection, to the top right I spotted a old-timey triangular home front, which is absolutely too high up.
It’s a good strategy and works indoors too. For example, I know a bunch of financial auditors who basically go into businesses and annoy the shit out of them for a few weeks making sure there’s no fraud going on. They say it’s extremely common for them to get stuck in uncomfortable spare offices, it’ll be small and cramped, too hot or too cold, they work late into nights and weekends and the client will intentionally make sure ac isn’t on late, things like that. Also works at home for getting rid of company that overstayed their welcome.
Fun fact: in the United States you can request this same sort of receipt. It’s slightly different, but all you have to do is request it, and they can show you exactly how many brown people they shot, or godless communists they’ve brought democracy to with your taxes!
