I said all of that to say, I have more music to dig through than I can believe. It takes an intentional act of will to put an album onto the player and play it. I'm lucky to get to listen to 1 album a week if that.
For me it's kind of like I'll put down an album and it's mostly forgettable crap right? I mean the sixties and seventies put out a lot of good music but they also put out a lot of junk.
But then in the midst of all of this junk all of a sudden a song will come on and it catches your attention and forces you to listen to it and it is so compelling and captivating that you can't help but love it.
And right now it's about one out of every 10 random albums has a song like that, but I love finding them.
Unless it was for a Bear 🐻🐨… depending on the bear and your personal fitness you may be better off not running out. But mostly always it’s better to run out of a Bear’s way.
The cause is a malfunction of the Crowdstrike monitoring solution, which employees use to spy at anything ever done on company hardware. They do have a Linux version and it has been reported to cause kernel panics (not sure if during this incident).
it was because crowdstrike themselves notified that this specific instance did not affect their linux nor osx distributions of security, and was windows specific.
Should have not trusted a third party to install proprietary code into the kernel. It’s not a Windows issue directly, they have a Linux version too, but anything that allows third parties to put proprietary code into your kernel and automatically update it without your approval is untrustworthy.
Probably coincidence? It sounds (???) like this is a pretty simple fix on Windows.
The number of times I have borked my Linux machines so they wouldn’t boot is, well, greater than zero for sure. Any operating system can be bricked to the point of requiring manual intervention by software with elevated privileges.
Yeah see it’s super solid logic – if someone explains something then they LOVE it. They fully embrace the way that it is and WANT IT TO BE THAT WAY FOREVER. Explanations really can only be traced back to evil intent.
It is not free. It takes a ton of time to build and maintain this software. And people including myself do donate to help out.
If you’re thinking all software developers will switch philosophies suddenly to think like you, I don’t really know what to tell you other than that will absolutely never happen.
Ps. Did you really think there was a chance you needed to remind me Lemmy is not commercial software?
Pps. I typically use boost to view Lemmy and that is commercial software. Showing there is no need to expect everyone to develop all software for free. $3 was a fuckin bargain

labor value != commodity value

Nobody is suggesting otherwise, it is simply incorrect to say the consumer always pays for an application. There are many apps and software that is free to use and modify, and you do not always pay with your time or your privacy.

It was a convenient counterexample to the point being made.

Moved to this God forsaken state from Wisconsin 4 years ago and God do I regret it with every ounce of my being. Someone take me back to cheese land please
My girlfriends is from here originally and moved to WI in the 6th grade, we moved out here to reunite her with her entire family that lives here. We both regret it dearly
Lol I can see that. Let me persuade you. “Put ‘er there bud, let’s go out for a fuckin’ rip on da lake and then cook up some brats on da grill afterwards, and by gosh don’t forget to tell yer folks I says hi when you see dem at Sunday mass!”
You’re missing at least one, but preferably multiple “Don’tChaKnow”. I grew up watching Bobbys World. If that show taught me anything about Wisconsin, it’s that the moms use “Don’tChaKnow” as often as Hulk Hogan uses “Brother”
Canned goods are great, they last, keep the nutritional values, packaging can be recycled, etc
The ‘they last’ means also less trips to the store, and less logistics is good for everyone and everything.
Unless canned food is acidic, then the cans are layered in plastics & are basically plastic bottles with extra steps.
Perhaps there is even an argument to be made how a large scale industrial processing can be (which doesn’t man is, but in proper countries it should be) much better, not only precise, but clean, with in some cases inherently far better ingredient quality (at least because of timing the ingredients), and more efficient too. It just takes less to implement an extra precaution or control in such an environment vs a big kitchen (or just someone mixing the ingredients at the store).
Often canned goods use no or at least much less preservatives compared to ‘fresh’ counterparts, simply bcs they just aren’t needed (and either way it’s cheaper to perfect the mechanical preservation processes than adding extra stuff in).
Yes, I was saying that it seems (imho) a good food to can and have stock at home.
People live different lives, or perhaps even have cooking or mobility limitations.
Or for situations like sailing of the grid where you can’t reasonably store potatoes.
I presume potato poisoning from badly made cans isn’t a thing for at least a century … If that’s not the case, then I’ll store my potatoes as vodka (I know, I know, most vodka isn’t potato vodka).
It’s some fresh hellish bug that Android has introduced, it’ll adapt the theme based on your wallpaper. It’s a bug because it always chooses that 70’s brown color. And yes, before you ask, you’re not able to disable it. You have to reset your theme everytime you change your wallpaper.
My backgrounds have been me and my son, dressed in blue, against a green garden background. There’s barely a pixel of brown to be found, but I always get that poo coloured nightmare.
I have always been able to see why it chooses the colors it does. For example I’m using an aerial view of earth and it gave me blues and greens. Also it does give you a choice of multiple sets of colors so it’s weird to me that your experience is that you get nothing but the same brown every time.
