I’m currently using connect for lemmy. It works fine, but I still have to use the web version to jumping between servers, which is why I come up with this idea.
IMHO, the shadows, padding around cards, corner radiuses, drop down stylings, etc. are all pretty rough. It doesn’t feel as refined as Material You or iOS’s design system.
Oh god, that’s way better. That stuff should be off by default. That said, I still feel like they need a UI person to contribute, and OP should hit them up.
As someone who does UI for a living, it feels rough to me. I wish I had the time to help out, but I’ve already got a couple other nasty side projects on my plate.
I don’t use compact so I’ve not seen those before, but I’m sure that’s not what anyone intended!
I’d be interested to see what’s in the video. I think we’re at a good point to spend some time understanding what works on both main target platforms and making the changes to get us there.
Liftoff is better but compared to the greats that existed in the reddit ecosystem these are very crude. The platform just needs time for devs to catch up to the 10+ years they had invested in Reddit development. The dev behind sync for Reddit has been hard at work on an client for Lemmy with as much feature parity as possible.
I clicked this link in the Jerboa app and it opened into my browser where I wasn’t signed in. Is it not possible yet to have lemmy links automatically open into the Jerboa app or is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?
Not sure. I wasn’t able to pull the link to a post inside Jarboa, and ended up opening the thread in browser, getting the link there, then making reply also via browser.
Maybe there is a better syntax for internal Lemmy links, other than https?
Me too, I’ve been on reddit for over a decade. I briefly tried a few of the open source alternatives, but was 98% Boost for as long as I can remember. I don’t know what I was using before Boost came along.
Noted. I was also considering where should I put the title as well. This is just a quick prototype to find out whether any dev is interested in collaboration, so just take it with a grain of salt 😉
I switched to Liftoff. I was on Jerboa for the last few weeks as I figured things out, but liftoff is much smoother and has yet to give me an error code
Stayed at an Airbnb last year where I left a ~4 star review taking off one star because of excessive noise from the bus stop outside (otherwise positive). Couple months later I get an email saying my review was removed for violating Airbnb policy. Had to contact support where they told me the host had submitted (fake) WhatsApp screenshots of me asking them for money to post a positive review and so they removed my review. No matter what I said customer support refused to reinstate my review. The most alarming thing is that they removed my review without any input from me. Interestingly, the property had added additional co-hosts where that property was their only property after my stay. Presumably these are fake profiles they used to file the dispute so it wouldn’t impact their main account.
In any case, I am never staying at an AirBnb again. Be aware that any rating on AirBnb can be easily manipulated by the host.
Also if you have status at a hotel, perks like room upgrades and late checkout are invaluable.

This is the same reason that Yelp is bullshit. And Amazon reviews. And pretty much any reviews you can find online. It’s why people used the reddit search flag. Everything is gamed and manipulated. People suck.
It’s also helpful to note that “shell builtins” don’t typically have man pages (at least for BASH). You can find help on these commands by typing [builtin name] --help or looking in the shell’s man page or info doc (no one told me when I was learning, so I got confused as to why some of the more common commands didn’t have man pages)
