Because that’s Jesus Land. The US has a large Christian population and the Jewish connections to the religion shapes their perception. I’m overgeneralizing a bit, but that’s the short answer.
Isreal-Palestine is more complicated than Ukraine-Russia. Russia invaded Ukraine using bullshit claims like Ukraine is full of Nazis and parts of Ukraine have voluntarily separated from Ukraine and joined Russia.
Both the Isrealies and Palestinians were legally given the territory by the UK who took it over during WWII (because why not?) After discovering its the only place in the middle east with no oil they traded it to two different nations accidentally. Oops! And then they told the newly formed UN to fix it. The UN divided the country up into an impossible to implement puzzle piece arrangement that Isreal quickly ignored.
They then became an ultra rich nation by becoming world leaders in military weapon design and manufacturing. Because they’re so rich and produce something very valuable, they have a lot of nations who are willing to look the other way in the border dispute. However, Palestine has valid claims still and are definitely being mistreated. Unfortunately for them, they don’t have lots of money or advanced weapons.
Israeli connections with the US is the main reasoning behind the lack of outcry imo.
Israel has also taken a turn very much for the worse. The mistreatment we have witnessed previously is nothing compared to what could be coming. This is so severe even parts of the Israeli army have gone on strike. Israeli is being usurped by theocracy which sees arabs as non human. They wish to remove all rights and privileges from arabs all together. The only difference between this and Isis is the book being used to govern the rules.
X is stupid branding and Elon Musk is a stupid, shallow dipshit who should not be allowed to have anywhere near the amount of money and power he possesses.
People are so quick to forget. Back when Netflix came out it’s appeal was offering movies for viewing online. People scoffed at it because TV was king and Netflix wasn’t on TV yet, smart TVs weren’t a thing and Roku had to be built as a middleman. “Why would I pay for that”. No one believed in the products in the way that people believe in Netflix and YouTube or Google or even twitter today.
Today every tv is smart, YouTube has a YouTube TV app, all these media companies have their own apps like paramount and ESPN, and people are willing to pay.
I had a mythtv box with 1000 movies, 10s of thousands of TV episodes just so much stuff and a computer in every tv in the house. You could rewind live tv and skip ads. Most family members never switched the tv input to the mythtv box. The two that used it asked after two weeks, is there anything new?
Are you high? Netflix wasn’t online, it was DVDs through the mail that you kept until you were ready for new ones. After its online became far more popular than the legacy service, people were still pissed when they announced they were going to stop the DVD mail, even when they stopped using that original service.
I’m sure it has some good features, I’m one of those that just downloaded Reddits client and lived in ignorance about the third party clients.
I tried Sync and saw the placeholder advert boxes, and thought this is too much like Reddits client, and then I have to pay for removing them, maby I’ll just use some of the alternatives.
Personally though, I had tried most Lemmy apps on Android before Sync came out, and found the experience to be lacking. Honestly, I was close to bailing on Lemmy entirely, assuming it just wasn’t for me. Sync was exactly what I needed in terms of UI and organization, and I’m happy to pay the dev for the work they do on it.
It’s not stopping but it’s kinda annoying to see one group trolling others. Yeah, the app has paid features that I can’t even afford to pay. But I simply don’t care and just use it with other FOSS app.
Most of the lemmy users are adults who are tech savvy. If one alternate is not fit them, they know their alternatives or know how find them. Let us not behave like a bunch of edgy teens.
