What happens to sea containers and lifeboats when a ship sinks?

I was watching a Casual Navigation video about a containership sinking and while he has done videos covering whether sea containers float I’m curious if people who respond to these emergencies try to deal with these sea containers on their own like in the event they have trouble getting to a lifeboat and in the case of...

How do you have an uncomfortable conversation with your boss?

Hey y’all, I’m a warehouse worker in Illinois, when I was hired on I was promised $17.50 an hour. I got access to the employee self service recently to find out these past 4 months I’ve been getting paid $17. Now I don’t have any actual on paper proof of this but I remember very clearly thinking , “$17.50, hey that’s...

What happens to my Corpse if I die in a Forest?

I was just randomly checking out what Funerals costs and was shocked how expensive it was! €3.500 to €5.500! I live in north Germany, and we have here some very deep Woods. So I was thinking what would happen if I just die there. Let’s say no one ever finds me. Are Animals just going to eat me, and will I just be gone in a...

I’ve installed Pop!OS after getting my Lenovo Ideapad Pro 5 back from the warranty repair. Supposedly they changed the motherboard (which I don’t doubt, it was waiting a week for new parts apparently), but even after that I’m still getting graphical errors and bugs when moving between desktops and other window animations....

(Constructively) What is your least favorite distro & why?

I’ve been distrohopping for a while now, and eventually I landed on Arch. Part of the reason I have stuck with it is I think I had a balanced introduction, since I was exposed to both praise and criticism. We often discuss our favorite distros, but I think it’s equally important to talk about the ones that didn’t quite hit...

How does ripping a CD/DVD work exactly? Is it similar to copying or does it leave the CD/DVD unusable?

I’ve never ripped CDs or DVDs before for any reason and am curious how this works since I have some stuff I wanna see about backing up but am nervous about ruining the disc. I’ve tried looking this up, but every time I do, I obviously am searching for the wrong thing because I have never found the info I’m looking for.
