[META] Creating a new community is easy, but to get people on board, you need to create some content.

If you create a community, please try and populate it with content. I see a lot of new communities with 0-1 posts from the mod. That’s not nearly enough to get people engaged - users are going to see that it’s a ghost town and leave....

My own domain?

Currently I’m with lemmy.world, but if i wanted to create my own, to run at my house, would I need to register a domain? I like the idea of having my own domain but also don’t know how the storage works… like if I post to my own, sure it gets stored, but if I post to somewhere on lemmy.world, where does it get stored?

One thing that's surprised me about the Reddit shitshow

Is how easily mods have caved in once the admins threatened to remove them. I had thought we’d see quite a few cases where Reddit would have to step in an replace entire mod teams (effectively killing the community). But it seems like that hasn’t happened at all - the closest we’ve got is mods being reordered....

Okay, be honest everyone, is there really anything that is as powerful as plexamp's sonic analysis, and track radios? I'm using Navidrome, but it is not even remotely the same thing.

I’m happy that I have navidrome setup, and it even forced me to make sure all my tags were beautiful and setup how I like them, but it’s undeniable that Plex had the upper hand on open sourced music projects....
