If you do, obviously most of Nintendo's titles are worth having. Zelda games are an easy recommend, but also Splatoon is pretty great.
If not, there's tons of games that are good that aren't Nintendo games that I think are worth having.
Octopath Traveler is awesome. I haven't played 2 yet, but I can recommend 1 if you like JRPGs
All legacy FF games are on the platform to some capacity
Ace Attorney game collections are great if you like visual novels
Basically every indie is on the platform at this point. Hollow Knight, Shovel Knight, Axiom Verge, probably a lot of others but those are some big names that come to mind.
Otherwise, I would avoid ports that haven't gotten good reviews. Also, make sure that the games aren't "cloud only" unless you're comfortable with that.
I tried 3-4 different apps before landing on it. I’m not even a little bit tempted to try anything else. It’s almost obscene how quickly they managed to make an Apollo clone for Lemmy.
Yes, that was the decisive aspect. Fuck preloading images. I do not deign a comment more worth the screenspace just because someone posted an image link, I consider it app-breaking bloat. And man, I like some bloat. I’d be cool with voyager loading avatars or tables if they wanted. Just not things that break the flow of text.
(… I do have Thunder installed just in case they make it a setting. I like the interface.)
Only problem I have with voyager is the bug where it sometimes won’t let you comment. Error message says I must select a language in my Lemmy profile, but I already have two languages selected. I emailed the dev, and he amazingly responded in like 3 minutes with a kind explanation that he’s already working on a fix.
Not as far as I know. Lemmy API doesn’t support marking multiple posts at once, so there is currently no clean way. And no application does it locally. Yet at least.
This is true, actually. I’ve felt uncomfortable adding something that essentially can create 10s of requests per second to an APIs that have been struggling significantly.
I see though that it’s being done and - although I’m not one of the admins to know - things seem to be fine now.
I don’t think it’s the best idea, given the fragility of things, but we can revisit this.
Unfortunately as a multi lingual user which includes using a more “exotic” language. There is not much choice asides from either SwiftKey or Gboard (I use SwiftKey)
I’ve been running a Zephyrus G14 for the past 8 months and it’s been great. I wrote up the install instructions but have no place to publish them.
It’s not spectacular, but it has an 6800U (or H, I don’t even know), good integrated graphics, a dedicated Radeon 6800S, and can be configured with 64GB RAM and a 1600p display.
The 15" variant probably has a 4K display if that’s what you want. I would personally wait for the Framework 16 at this point though.
Me and my SO have unironically started watching and enjoying the Quantum Leap reboot. But we’re only two episodes in so it could go either way. No spoilers!
Music wise I’ve been enjoying the “1980s Bubblegum” retrospective LP by Aussie jangle pop pioneers The Particles. Went through to Glasgow at the weekend and picked up a copy from Monorail Records who have an exclusive coloured vinyl.
Just last year maybe? It’s on Paramount+. There is a almost full length old style season of 18 episodes. No-one has said “oh boy” yet, which is disappointing.
I originally created a user on vlemmy.net. Then at some point that instance disappeared, causing me to lose the user, subscriptions and settings. So I created a user on lemmy.world. For whatever reason, it became very buggy - I don’t know if it’s the app (I’m using Jerboa) or the instance, but I got constantly logged out and loading posts didn’t work properly. Third time’s a charm (so far) as I created this user on lemm.ee.
The confidence of stability of different instances seems to be a huge detractor for me. I’m hoping to see lemm.ee run with decent stability going forward.
They’re a lot of fun. Just don’t go in expecting balls to the wall action and goofy one-liners like the movies; as someone else said they’re more spy/detective stories than action adventures. That said, there’s still plenty of action and they do move along at a pretty good clip.
One thing that stood out to me when I went through a period of reading a whole bunch of them is how much they focus on Bond’s likes, dislikes and interests. It’s not just shaken or stirred vodka martinis and Walther PPKs, the books often go into a fair amount of detail about what Bond takes for breakfast, what kind of products or activities he likes and so on.
Binding of Isaac Repentance is my main game at the moment. I’m also trying to squeeze some Need for Speed Underground 2 on the PS2. Gaming is no longer my primary hobby so it’s no more than an hour or two per day. Still, looking forward to the other NFS titles on the PS2. I might try to finish the first Underground and go for 100% on both before moving on.
