Contramuffin , to nostupidquestions in Why do most US lawsuits settle instead of going to trial?

I mean, I agree with you. Companies that break the rules should get sued and get punished. But the reality often is that the person who files the suit often doesn’t really have the time and money to fight all the way to the end. And remember that even then, the court may not always rule in favor of the person who filed the lawsuit. So settlements end up just being a practical shortcut.

yhnavein , to linux in Why is Linux so frustrating for some people?

I used elementaryOS back in 2016. It was the best system, the best experience, the best look and feel. That was amazing.

Everything went to shit with one of the updates. It destroyed the graphics drivers and I wasn’t able to reinstall it correctly. Shortly after they released the new big version of elementaryOS which was just bad. Looked bad, worse user experience. It was also slower. And even small update killed my graphic drivers. Again. That was it. Back to Windows. Few years after that I moved to MacOS and now it’s stable, looking nice and I am confident that the os will work pretty much the same on the next day.

It’s crucial when you have a freelance work. I just can’t imagine waking up to see that my Linux machine decided to fuck me up on a that particular day. Nope.

Ew0 ,

To be fair there are very stable distros like Debian that will hardly ever break.

Lawsuits are expensive, and large companies can afford the best lawyers, while the government often can’t.

Boatman , to selfhosted in Help: pihole local DNS record transfer to Opnsense router

192.168.1.777 isn’t a valid IP-adress. Choose another.

daruma OP ,

Sorry I meant 777 as an *

citizen , to selfhosted in Help: pihole local DNS record transfer to Opnsense router

If you have adguard on port 53 that will be your first hop and main DNS server. If you setup rewrite on adguard to point *.local.my domain.con to 192.168.1.777 that should be good. Next ensure your DHCP server sets correct DNS server for clients.

docs.opnsense.org/manual/dhcp.html

Next I would ensure that the client you’re testing with is pointing to the adguard DNS. In this case your open sense router on port 53.

Depending what you’re testing with on Linux you can check /etc/resolv.conf

You can run dig command to point directly to your adguard server to verify it works and you have connectivity

dig @192.168.1.1 something.local.my domain.com

daruma OP , (edited )

Thank you that was very informative, I went through again and found out that my Unbound is using the port 53 and Adguard is using 5353.

That means Unbound is the main DNS server on my case. Where would I put my (*.local.domain.com to 192.168.1.**) rule

edit: I followed a guide on how to install Adguard with unbound. youtu.be/7RC7q5WOYC0

MangoPenguin ,
@MangoPenguin@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Since unbound is your primary DNS where clients connect, set the override there.

daruma OP ,

Where would I have to input my domain name

MangoPenguin ,
@MangoPenguin@lemmy.blahaj.zone avatar

Go to Services > Unbound > Overrides, and add a host override. Then you’ll get a window to put the host, domain, and IP.

Morning folks. Working my way through Legion. Dunno why I slept on this show for so long - it’s brilliant!

Also been watching Righteous Gemstones with my daughters and been introducing them to other Danny McBride shows like vice principals and eastbound and down. They love it!

rubikcuber OP ,
@rubikcuber@feddit.uk avatar

We’ve watched the first two seasons of Legion, but stalled on the final episode of S2 for the longest time because found it pretty hard going. Not that it wasn’t watchable, just that it was a bit of a downer. Went back and finished it a few months back, and must get started on S3. Love the soundtrack!

Finnbot ,
@Finnbot@lemmy.world avatar

That’s weird - it’s where I’m at just now and I’ve actually paused it to get some work done because it was so fucking grim!

The soundtrack is brilliant as well, been switching between that and The Bear soundtrack playlists on Spotify all week.

rubikcuber OP ,
@rubikcuber@feddit.uk avatar

Right, well, that’s good to know it wasn’t just us that thought that. We were watching S2 during the pandemic and I wasn’t sure if it was because of the show, or the world!

I’ve been enjoying Beef on netflix, the premise starts off absurd, but as the episodes go on, you really get a feel for how an unhappy life can lead to a lot of other things.
