I won’t go into my solution here, but the only tip I’ll give you is don’t use cloud based storage. Restoring is slow if we’re talking terrabytes, it’s expensive compared to buying a disk and your data is never truly safe.
Buy another drive, backup to it and have it on a rotation schedule. I keep my “offsite” backup in the boot of my car. If I’m not at home I’m usually away with my car.
Storing a hard disk in a car or any other moving vehicle is highly not recommended. The vibration will kill your drive. There are stories of companies moving drives on trolleys across their carpark to find the data has been lost.
It is something people think they want because it is more expensive and in higher trim levels in cars. But when your car is parked in the hot sun the leather feels like it burns and in the winter is freezing to the touch. Leather also doesn’t breath so you end up sweating more and if your are not wearing long pants your leg will stick to the seat. Cloth is so much better functionally. Cloth also lasts longer than the fake leather they put in cars. Cloth won’t peel like the fake leather.

I wouldn’t even mind vertical videos that much, but the real fucking cancer are vertical videos with baked-in black borders for 16:9 ratio, so you can’t view them comfortably on anything and the resolution is like 1/4 of the original.
Bonus if those borders are also filled with ads or other annoying bullshit.
Asking for recommendations usually means hoping your peers will have personal experience, which beats just searching for phones and reading the reviews that may or may not have ill intent.
All I can say is that it's still at least leather. Most things (e.x., belts) will say "manmade leather" or "manmade materials" and they are fake and break. The genuine leather belt I have has been working for 4 years without snapping.

I disagree. Downvotes rarely add anything of value to the discussion that can’t be expressed simply by not upvoting. There’s no nuance to a downvote, and they’re so often misused to the extent that I’m glad not to have to worry about them.
I respectfully disagree. Downvotes add a way of gauging the percent of people who support/don't support a comment. Let's say I'm asking for advice about which product to buy. With an upvotes-only system the upvote count is biased towards the earliest comment, whereas with an up/down vote system, the ratio helps you detect comments with heavy bias or blatantly wrong facts. So an upvote/downvote system makes it easier to tell the credibility of a comment, basically allowing you to indirectly gauge the opinion of the community rather than the one person who commented.
I see your points, and they do make sense, but I respectfully disagree with your conclusion. My reasoning is that, from my experience, a downvote has no nuance. A reply saying “this is wrong and here’s why” with a hundred upvotes is useful. A downvote is basically the equivalent of flicking a peanut.
The thing is that people usually won’t take the time to write that reply and in case of trolls, they shouldn’t be wasting their time.
YouTube’s dislikes used to be great for telling useful content apart from useless spam at a glance without even clicking on it. They removed them, so now we have to read the comments before watching a video if we want to avoid wasting time.
In this day and age, information flows so fast there isn’t always time for nuance. The downvote isn’t perfect and misused often, but it does serve a purpose.
I have a counter example where downvotes are very useful. In r/askphysics we would downvote any comment that had errors or was completely wrong. A post didnt have to be around long before it became clear what the consensus answer was. This was much more helpful to the asker than just showing them a bunch of answers, and responses to those answers, and leaving them to discern who is most credible.
In that case, just not voting wouldn’t help. And if you have downvoting, you can still just not vote when that’s more appropriate. That’s what I do for opinions I simply disagree with.
YouTube started monetizing Shorts and reduced the payouts to regular long form YouTube videos which is anything wide screen and over 60 seconds. It’s pretty much forcing content creators to start doing Shorts if they want to try and not lose as much revenue
TIL, that's just screwed. Sometimes short form content can be interesting, but 99% of the time I want a video I can watch along to. It's terrible and I don't understand the intense appeal these have. Didn't Vine start it all?
