I thought I was alone with that feeling. I’m in exactly the same boat as you.
For me, it’s a tiny bit different, because I played BOTW shortly before my daughther was born in 2017. I still had time for games like that back in the day. Now I don’t only have a daughter, but a son as well.
When I grab the controller and start playing something time intensive like BOTW and now TOTK, I usually feel really guilty really quick, because there are so many other things to do, that in theory should have a higher priority.
Just do what I do. Split your time between family, work, house projects, errands, and play a little of each backlogged game you have. Get absolutely nothing in your life done by trying to do everything 24/7. This way you get the benefit of feeling like you have no free time while also having the benefit of getting burnt out and overstressed. It can't backfire. 100% sustainable.
Don't forget taking so long a break between games that you completely forget what you're supposed to be doing, and if the game offers no sort of recap/hand-holding quest system - you have to start from scratch.
At which point the daunting nature of that overwhelms you and you just sit there browsing your catalog for something new to play/continue until you're 15 minutes past your allotted time - and you're now even further behind.
For your friends and family, Signal is probably the best. It’s simple to use and set up, unlike SimpleX which some might have trouble with. For people who refuse to switch, iMessage.
I’m only Discord at this point. Over time I’ve just wanted to stay within a select few platforms for mental health and security. I would move to Matrix but most people I know are on Discord. But I still have an account there incase anyone wants to contact me.
Based on my understanding, Fedora will be unaffected but Rocky & Alma are in some hot water along with Scientific Linux. RHEL is based on Fedora while the others are based on RHEL.
Fighting games? Street Fighter 6, The King of Fighters XV and Guilty Gear Strive all have crossplay, are pretty recent and good fun even if you don’t want to fully dedicate yourselves to it.
Never played it but heard good things about it. Is it similar to Mordhau? If it is, I second your recommendation, because I played that game with friends and had a ton of fun.
It’s a lot closer to a typical fighting game than Mordhau, TBH. Combat is more structured around “moves” that you have rather than being able to just drag a weapon around wherever.
Installing it as a PWA on my iPhone causes the history buttons to disappear (since they're part of the browser). This means that if I open a comments page, I can't get back to the post list again. I can tap on the logo to get to the main page, but my scrolling position is lost, so I'd have to scroll down to find where I stopped scrolling last time.
Mostly aesthetically, but also since Linux Mint is a very stable distro updates are usually slow and the packages it uses are often a little outdated. If you're the type of person to want to update to the newest thing as soon as it's out, then it's probably not for you.
Usually in these kind of situations I fall back to sharing a OneDrive / Teams (SharePoint) folder out to the external vendor. Anyone can say that they can’t receive the encrypted email and there could be legitimately good reasons for that, but if they don’t know how to login to 365 to access a shared folder that’s on them.
If they absolutely refuse to allow you to share or email an individual vs. a distro group then I’d do it that way, but not using an “anyone with the link” share depending on the sensitivity of the information. If it’s something that isn’t as sensitive sure, but otherwise they’ll need to setup credentials with that distro group and use it to login to access the shared folder.
Now, I haven’t finished the book, in fact I have only read maybe 30 pages so far, but Ilium by Dan Simmons could be a fit. It features a character that is tasked by a divine entity to explore the events of Homers Iliad. It is Sci-fi though and I am not sure if the book will keep this characters storyline in Greece or even under this pact.

There was one Voat. When the one Voat goes bust, Voat goes bust. Like any enterprise, it’s failure can be attributed, at least in part, to poor management.
There are many Lemmy’s. If one Lemmy collapses, another Lemmy can take its place. The individual instances might be less stable than a centralized social media site, like Voat was, but when federated the whole unit is more resilient than centralized social media.
The one problem with this is that most of the content does seem to be pretty centered on only a couple instances (lemmy.world mostly, with some also scattered in beehaw.org, Lemmy.ml, and sh.itjust.works). If one of those goes down, especially lemmy.world, it will cripple this place pretty bad. Maybe if we one day get a way to backup or export user profiles and communities to other instances, but until then, I think this place has a centralization problem brewing as well.
People seem super jazzed about the decentralized nature of Lemmy and other stuff in the “fediverse”. I don’t really understand how it works but it seems cool that Lemmy isn’t a single company/website. Can’t have a power tripping CEO or a board that panders to shareholders that way.
People over complicate federation. I write federated software so lemme break it down. Federation just means data sharing. When you post something on a federation enabled website it sends a copy of your post to everyone who follows you and tells their service to store your data in their database in addition to their own data. What this means is that you can't just blow up a server to shut it down because everyone in the game has a copy.
