Mid 30s, healthcare worker but I suppose I’m a tech enthusiast. Use windows on work computer due to needing a few windows only programs for work, Unraid on my NAS, and Ubuntu on my VPS. So I guess 1 and 3 are true and half of 2.
I tried this with a brand new lemmy ansible setup using Vultr object storage, and my media upload requests respond with a timeout

Have you tried SimCompanies? It's similar to what you're looking for. You build a company over the course of months and find a niche in an economy that's mostly player run.

You can take a look at the kind of comments and discussions in different communities and see if there are any that have the sort of vibe that you’re looking for and then go ahead and subscribe!
I wish someone had shown me the ropes to get into WRPGs (and other genres that I have yet to really familiarize myself with) back in the day.
There’s a lot of really neat stuff in the genre that seems hard to get into without taking the time to learn how to make the most of it. Maybe it’s that I’m now an adult and I know a bit too much, but I’ve had problems like sitting down with Neverwinter Nights 2 and then realizing that I should go research character builds before I start playing the game. And then, of course, that just means I forget about playing the game for another year or two.
And this isn’t even anywhere near the most obtuse game to learn. There are very complex games (particularly some sim games) that really seem like they’d be great fun if only I actually knew how to play them, but I don’t.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who has never finished Good Omens. I’ve picked it up several times. What I’ve read of it, I enjoyed. But I never felt compelled to finish it. Put differently, I guess it’s just not engaging…?
I really miss this genre. Makes me sad to see what Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six have turned into. Back when I was playing Rogue Spear, I never thought I’d ever see team Rainbow fight aliens!
Was really pleased to discover that the original Ghost Recon on GoG runs really well. Was also able to get their copy of the original Rainbow Six to work after a bit of tinkering.
