Am I going to sit in a chair for an hour plus without any compensation? Maybe once or twice here and there. But you can donate plasma at least twice a week.
It requires two donations for a single unit. If you donate once and don’t donate the second, then your first donation is unusable. You have to get them to donate twice.
When I was donating plasma, it paid about $75 for each donation. 50 first, 100 for second. The money is pretty good. $300 a month is a lot for a lot of people.
If you didn’t compensate people for plasma donations, a lot wouldn’t do it. They currently need more people to donate.
I’m OK with actual honest to goodness videos on lemmy generally. It’s those fucking gifs that drive me up the fucking wall. Gifs should be banned from lemmy, they’re so heavily abused. 3 out of 4 “video” posts is actually just a 100mb+ gif. Use any fucking thing other than gifs. Fuck gifs. If I had a time machine I would go back in time just to prevent gifs from getting invented just so people would stop posting 1 minute long gifs all over lemmy. In fact, maybe I should plot and scheme to sneak the removal of gif support from the lemmy software git repo somehow the same way hackers got that ssh virus in.
Fuck gifs. Everyone needs to stop choosing to use them instead of any other format. Literally anything else would be better. Even drawing a representation of what happened in crayon would be better than posting a gif. If videos are too complicated to figure out you need to be posting a picture or maybe just go outside. Fuck.

I don’t think you can. On the other hand, if you register a Google account, use a secondary user on your phone to login, install the app and activate the Chromecast, I think you can subsequently use it without the Google account. Delete the secondary user once you’re done with the setup. You wouldn’t have given Google any useful data and you’d have cost them some.
I am using duplicati.com and www.backblaze.com ( use their b2 cloud storage its variable and 6$ a month for 1TB or less depending on how much you use) run a schedule beckup every night for my photos. It’s compressed and encrypted. I save a config file to my google so say if my house and server burn down. I just pull my config from google then redownload duplicati and boom pull my back up down. The whole set up backs up incremental so once you do the first back up its only changes that are uploaded. I love the whole set up.
Edit: You can also just pull files you need not the whole backup.
How do you know? That reactor could be unstable enough that a bird strike could possibly blow it all up. And I mean a small ass waxwing would have no trouble flying down a 3 meter wide tube.
