Stop letting your cat outside.

Some cats are escape artists- my timeshare cat is a verified cat burglar.

(He’d steal carrots of all things.)

They weren’t letting him out intentionally. Took a long while to seal up all the ways he found to get out.

But yes, it’s a dangerous world for cats. It’s not safe for them, and it’s not safe for critters they go all murder hobo on.

@RegalPotoo@lemmy.world avatar

One of our cats kept getting out of our old house - took us a couple of weeks to work out that she’d found an access hatch into the subfloor that we didn’t know about in the back of a cupboard and worked out how to lift it up

theywilleatthestars , (edited ) to nostupidquestions in If the obscenely wealthy benefit most from having Republicans in power; and collectively they have disproportionate control over the economy; wouldn't they use that power to sabotage Democrats?

Either sabotage Democrats or make them pursue more right wing policies, which is why there was so much Reagan praise at the DNC when every dem voter under 40 hates his guts.

Wouldn’t shooting them into Jupiter be the easiest?

I’m sure I’ve read a few things about what an impact that big bugger has on trajectories in our solar system.

Intuitively I feel like a push towards Jupiter would be easier than a push to get all the way out of the solar system avoiding Jupiter.

Belly_Beanis ,
@Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net avatar

I think I’d rather be launched into the sun over Jupiter. The sun you die pretty quickly as you get closer to it. I can’t imagine there’s much that could stop heat once you get past Mercury. Jupiter though? Jupiter is fucking spooky. Its core is hot like any molten core, but there’s no crust. You’d fall through the sky and just keep falling for hundreds of miles. You’d eventually die from the heat like you would with the sun, but you wouldn’t be able to see anything. At some point all you can see is goop. It’s like being underwater in the Mariana Trench, but the water is nitrogen, metallic hydrogen, and liquid silicone.

FarFarAway , to lemmyshitpost in Meatspin

Idk theres a car dealership that has a 2 level version of this. The middle part is raised and spins with the base. Its not as wide as the old ones, but it seems just as dangerous.

Then theres the single person versions that works off of like angled centrifugal force? Idk. It spins and spins just from body weight. They can start it on their own, but I’ve had random kids ask me to help them stop, cause they couldn’t do it themselves. I see variations of these in most newer playgrounds. Some have you sitting, some standing. Many parents still dont give a shit.

just_another_person , (edited ) to selfhosted in Is there a Ben Eater's Bread Board Computer/6502 type of content creator for home networks?

I’m not sure, but I would be surprised if there was, especially for any sort of modern equipment. Networking hardware is really just a standard computer with a lot of specialized SoC chips specific to networking routines. So your generic home wireless router is an ARM chip, some ram, some storage, and then a wireless SoC chips, for example. Most of your enterprise type switches are basically the same Intel or AMD CPUs you’d find in a server with a ton of specialized single-purpose chips augments to offload specific jobs really fast.

So if there was a very basic beginner course to building networking hardware like, it would probably be using the concepts that 80’s hardware may have used I’d guess. Maybe try looking for someone building a modem or NIC from scratch?

Strong acid, strong base. Bake at 500C if it’s borosilicate to bake off all organics. It won’t get much cleaner than that.

I feel bad for these folks.

My building’s HOA kicks ass, but admittedly, the people we elected to it are very ‘live and let live’.

Hopefully it stays that way. I’ve read horror stories about buildings hiring HOA management companies out of nowhere who take over and turn things shitty. 😔

The obscenely wealthy donate to both parties. Both parties protect the interests of the wealthy.

Hell, there have been two Democratic administrations that had total congressional control over the last sixteen years. The minimum wage is still seven bucks an hour.
