I got in a week or so ago and immediately started walking a ton more than usual. It was also great timing because I’m in Paris at the moment, so I’m walking so much every day and leveling up like crazy as a result.
The batteries should not degrade that fast. Get a name brand like Eaton or APC or something like that similar to a Power supply, cheap devices can do harm to your expensive devices. Have a couple of setups where the batteries (lead acid) are 5+ years old and they work ok.
I use several refurbished APC UPS’, and also use third-party batteries (from the company that refurbishes the UPS’) and it’s been trouble-free for like 10 years. I replace batteries, it seems, every 4-5 years and only when the self-test says to replace it.
Never had a problem with data loss due to the UPS failure.
Hosting videogames on a dedicated box for me and the boys when I was 16 got me more interested in networking and when I had finished my mostly unrelated education, I pivoted hard to IT. I don’t currently work in IT and I don’t know if I ever will again because my handicap and location make it hard to find jobs but essentially:
Self-hosting came first, then came the tech ‘background’.
Well Truth Social is running off Mastodon so they are kind of here. Just invisible (I don't tihnk truth social is federated with anything). When I was on Kbin I at least saw quite a few conseravatives. Can't really speak to this instance since on my end it all just appears as the same.
