Minedustry is a factory builder and tower defense game(similar to Factorio, although it is on a smaller scale and more focused on the tower defense)

rhythmisaprancer , to nostupidquestions in How do people that have to wear black nitrile gloves all day keep from having sweaty hands?
@rhythmisaprancer@moist.catsweat.com avatar

Ideally you can change periodically. But for me, the gloves are better than the alternative! I use hand treatment after work. I have (mild) eczema but don't generally suffer. You gotta find what works for you!

threelonmusketeers , to fediverse in Current best lemmy clients

I’ve tried Boost, Connect, Eternity, Jerboa, Liftoff, Summit, Sync, Thunder, and Voyager.

My favourites are Eternity and Thunder. Eternity is the only app I’ve found with “swipe between posts” navigation. Thunder has the best remote instance link handling, and its tools for inserting usernames and community names are better than even the Lemmy web UI.

Truck_kun , (edited ) to linux in basic UI programming in linux

You listed python.

If you are open to Python, I would recommend: https://textual.textualize.io/

Edit: for clarity, the above is if you want nice TUIs (text gui in terminal). If you want actual windowed applications not in terminal, in regards to Python, I would just say use tkinter.

Here’s a list of projects known to use Textual: https://github.com/Textualize/transcendent-textual

There are a lot of cool projects I would suggest browsing to see what it can do, but the following pages have screenshots that do a good job of showing what it’s capable of:

https://github.com/ChrisBuilds/moneyterm

https://github.com/bluematt/textual-musicplayer

https://github.com/eliasdorneles/usolitaire (I’d love to see someone do minesweeper for terminal)

Extra: while meant for terminal usage, you can use the mouse to interact, can run programs from ssh sessions, and I believe they’ve added the ability to take your TUI into web browsers.

…. Oh, also not restricted to Linux. It does generally work with Mac and windows (would recommend using windows terminal from windows store, it makes things look right, whereas command prompt does not display correctly.

eugenia , to linux in Niche Distro Users: Why?
@eugenia@lemmy.ml avatar

I use Linux since 1999 and I’m with you, I don’t like niche distros. I like them to be well supported with many devs in them, and a structure around them. My days of tinkering died already in 2002 (I’m looking at you Gentoo and sia). Since then, I want things to work the way I expect them. That’s why I now use Debian or Mint.

tetris11 ,
@tetris11@lemmy.ml avatar

Same. I started off on Gentoo, jumped to Puppy, jumped to Slack, jumped to Fedora, jumped to Arch, jumped to Nix, jumped to Guix, jumped back to Arch, and now I’m thinking Debian is the only true stable upstream linux needs.

Plus I’m sick of tweaking my configs for the N’th time to work on the M’th system. To quote a random side-character in American Dad: “I have painted my children for the last time.”

(I will at some point start playing with BSD’s though, I just know it. And Haiku too once they have decent laptop support.)

Loading into World of War craft for the first time back in 2005 is probably the biggest.

Seeing all the people running around and doing their thing was incredible. It made me super excited to go explore the world.

I’ve used MultiMC forever, it’s open source and has linux support. Like it because I tend to have a few different modpacks/versions, keeps things organised.

tbh i think multimc is a pretty alr comment but not saying its bad
