I ordered maybe 300+ items on AliExpress in 8 years. I will never touch temu, never.

Showroom7561 OP ,

Yeah, I used to buy stuff from ebay, but the free shipping, good selection, and relatively good quality/value items from Ali is hard to beat. Their shipping turnaround times have also gone from weeks/months to 4-6 days. They’re going to be better than Amazon if they keep it up!

But now that I have the temu experience, I’ll never touch their platform again.

@southsamurai@sh.itjust.works avatar

Hmmm, I assume the usual hamburger/hotdog isn’t what you’re looking for.

I think the least common thing I put ketchup on is kraft mac n cheese. Don’t do it every time, but every now and then, when I’m having the standard, package only mac n cheese, I’ll put a dab on there.

Can’t use much, or it sucks. But the kind of amount you might drop as you’re taking a bite of something else, that works great. That’s how I found out I liked it, back as a kid.

tilefan OP ,

I will put ketchup on mac & cheese, of any kind, no matter how old your grandmother’s recipe is. did it right in front of my Italian potential mother-in-law too, there are certain things that have to be established early in the relationship.

lukecooperatus , to asklemmy in what's your favorite thing to put on fries that isn't ketchup?
@lukecooperatus@lemmy.ml avatar

I haven’t seen anyone mention nutritional yeast yet, but that’s become my go-to seasoning for almost everything; popcorn, pizza, scrambled eggs, bread, ramen, soft pretzels, and of course on fries. So damn good!

(Yes, I realize the name “nutritional yeast” sounds vaguely unpleasant and unappetizing, but I promise it’s incredible if you like savory flavors, and it can also be used as a cheese powder substitute in vegan recipes.)

tilefan OP ,

I find it to be an okay parmesan replacement, but prefer parmesan

meekah ,
@meekah@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah nothing ever came close to Parmesan for me. I’ll use yeast when its the only option at my vegan friends places but I’ll never be able to be truly vegetarian because of Parmesan

RBWells ,

I put this only on popcorn but always on popcorn. Oh and sometimes in grits. So good in cheese grits, with cheddar, jalapenos and butter and salt. Way better than with just the cheese. So I guess only on corn.

Probably just their grooming every 2-3 months, which has gotten VERY expensive as inflation has made groomers’ lives hell and they’ve had to pass on those costs.

But, 100% worth it. My pups seem to know how good they look and love strutting around and getting attention from passersby on our walks.

I bought my cat an auto feeder and a filtered water fountain. Definitely quite pricey, but it’s amazing not getting woken up by meows to feed her each morning. Plus, it keeps her on a consistent schedule and seems like she drinks much more water with the filtered fountain too.

tilefan ,

what fountain did you get? the one I got, the filter doesn’t fit snugly so the water just goes around it

I went with Petlibro for the feeder and fountain, they’ve worked well for me.

Mellow12 , (edited ) to selfhosted in I spent ~$35 on new cables and my LAN speed increased 6x

Ethernet speeds historically were measured in 10/100. In my past life I worked for an a small rural isp. And part of my learning I was taught that cat5 was 8 strands of wire, or 4 twisted pairs. I got very familiar with crimping patch cables. If one strand were cut a network card would negotiate down to its lowest speed and still work at 10mbps. Operating on 4 wire or two pairs. It’s possible with those numbers you had a bad connection, or a broken strand in the cable and it auto negotiated down to 10mbps. To this day I still crimp my own cables, and I own a cheap cable tester to make sure the crimps and cables are good.
