I’m just gonna drop this here as an example:

The Jerusalem Report (Owned by Jerusalem Post) and the Jerusalem Post

This biased as shit publication is declared by MBFC as VEEEERY slightly center-right. They make almost no mention of the fact that they cherry pick aspects of the Israel war to highlight, provide only the most favorable context imaginable, yadda yadda. By no stretch of the imagination would these publications be considered unbiased as sources, yet according to MBFC they’re near perfect.

kurcatovium , to asklemmy in How to deal with being bald?

Getting older I can only say: looks are overrated. During my time I used to have all kinds of hair styles: metalhead with long hair, medium length, short hair, almost no hair, and right now I have like half a centimeter, because it’s so hot weather and I sweat a lot and felt uncomfortable. Last time I cared about “how do girls look at my hair” was probably in my teens but even then I went against the stream, because metalhead long hair was far from being desirable.

IMO you should focus less on how do other perceive you (your look) and more on how you feel yourself. Having less (no) hair has so many benefits I can’t even think of going back to anything longer than ~inch. Sure I might look dumb, but that feeling of air breeze on my skull is so refreshing I couldn’t care less. Another benefit is much easier care. When I had long hair it felt like a chore to use shampoo, conditioner and brush the hair while it felt almost instantly “in need” of the procedure again. Now? Tsssch, I use whatever: shampoo, regular soap or just water, fast rinse and hair are almost immediately fresh feeling and also dry (huge plus imo).

And the most important note. If you ever find/found a partner who is/was with you just because your fabulous hair, I can assure you it is/was not the right one.

ByteOnBikes , to nostupidquestions in What are some things you can do to maintain your teeth when you don't have health insurance and can't afford dental care?

Watch YouTube videos on how to brush and floss.

I am absolutely taking the L here since I’ve apparently been brushing my teeth wrong for most of my life.

I’ll never get flossing right so water picking has been the next best thing.

I currently spend a 1-2k a year at the dentist, which imo, isn’t that bad. But probably way less had I learned proper brushing and had better flossing habits.

@xiao@sh.itjust.works avatar

I like “old” social or societal Japanese movies.

Why ?

Because they bring other ways of thinking and many issues that are ultimately universal.

They encourage us to meditate on the different associations that push our societies to become what they become, and force us to rethink the other, otherness.

Could recommend many but let’s say for example…

Suicide Club Totally Weird (not for children )

Hana-bi Intense

Okuribito Deep

Nobody Knows sad 😭

It may seem strange to you, but I have learnt a lot from these types of films.

Oh, this is awesome!

I’ve gotten exposed to some of these elements of Japanese society through years of anime, manga, and video games, and there’s so many things I’ve done more learning on after finding out about them, but I’ve never thought about looking for movies about them. Ikiru is the only one I can think of that I’ve seen.

All the ones you mentioned sound great, and I’ve just searched for movies about Koreans living in Japan, based on some of the plot points from the Yakuza games that had me interested in their history in Japanese society.

Thank you for opening up a new rabbit hole for me to explore!

Game Dev Story von Kairo Soft, it’s like 26 MB. It’s also one of the best mobile games I have ever played.

I went hard on all the Kairo Soft games for a few years during the iPhone 3-6 era.

And to this day, I have no idea how any of the games work nor can I tell you how to be good at them.

Once again, the format doesn’t work for me when the main topic is about a fad that nobody talks about anymore.

It worked in South Park for a long time because they had a relevant episode a week or two after it happened. In Futurama, not so much.

The Bender story was pretty neat though. They could have left out all of the NFT stuff and focused just on the Bender plot and it would have been a significantly better episode.

Quite optimistic view. Do you think they will be so nice and give you a completely unobstructed working area? I am pretty sure that contradicts every sane ad strategy. Where is the “Watch one minute of ads before we can start your application” window in the center? Where are the 5 identical buttons of which only one will get you to file explorer, the other ones lead to File Explorer Plus only for 5,99$ per week?
