Wow, what kind of person would go on the Internet and just pretend to be somebody else online? People these days have no shame anymore.

pingveno ,

Yeah, you tell them Margot! As only a strong Barbie could.

JackGreenEarth , to asklemmy in What email provider do you use? Would you recommend it?

I use my own domain with MythicBeasts for hosting, and Geary as a client on Manjaro GNOME, K9 Mail on Android.

Migadu. Yeah*. On the computer, I use mostly aerc (+notmuch), but hop on Thunderbird once in a while; on mobile I use K-9.

  • If you are not looking for totally free options (though their cheapest plan is 20€/y and they give 50% discount to students), and if you don’t care about email encryption (which you shouldn’t). Migadu has a very good Pros/Cons page, I highly recommend you take a look, even if you’re not using or planning to use their service.

Okay you added an asterisk but I’m not seeing a footnote. Is that a markup typo?

No no, it was just me being very silly .-.
Fixed, thanks!

I was following various folks on there but never much posted.

Then, a couple weeks ago they implemented some kind of “live” feature that started spamming notifications like crazy. The only way to disable it was to disable user notifications, which means Twitter went totally quiet for me.

I’ve checked in a couple times in the interim, but looks like I’m pretty much done with that app. I guess it was Elon’s next step on the path to destroying Twitter.

Corporations are not people. They do not have a sense of identity. They do not deserve the same rights as humans. They are not capable of being affected by things like gender dysphoria. A corporation does not have feelings and is only a word we use to describe a collective form of actions made by ACTUAL humans.

You literally can not deadname a company. But Elon should understand the hypocrisy none the less.

Wayland, but I’m patiently waiting for xfce to support it

beefbaby182 , to showerthoughts in Why does 11:19AM have to look so much like 5 till 4PM?
@beefbaby182@lemmy.world avatar

If I’m following correctly, 11:19AM seems like it’s a long ways off from 5PM when you haven’t even had your lunch break yet. But then 4:00PM rolls around and THE FINAL COUNTDOWN starts where you only have ONE HOUR left in your workday.

I dunno, that’s just my interpretation. Just riffing at this point.

birbs , to retrogaming in My experience with eBay Buyer Protection

Just a tip if you’ve had your eBay account since before you were 18. Never update your date of birth on either your eBay or PayPal account such that you would have been under 18 when you made the account. I made that mistake and they banned that account, I had to make a new one.

the16bitgamer OP ,
@the16bitgamer@lemmy.world avatar

Na, learnt that lesson along time ago when my Dad was trying to help me and got my account banned.

birbs ,

Ah well, it’s a little reassuring that this didn’t just happen to me!

cRazi_man , to asklemmy in What email provider do you use? Would you recommend it?

Mailbox.org with my own custom domain ([email protected]) and Thunderbird for an email client.

I would highly recommend it. It is cheap and includes almost a complete replacement for Google services (email, contacts, calendar, online drive, etc).

Please consider your privacy. Giving all you emails to Google (or other mainstream data harvesters) basically gives them deep info about your whole life (purchases, travel, communication…everything).

Having a custom domain let’s you go to any provider you like if you want to switch.

Works fine. The only thing I wish they supported is shared mailboxes.
