Because people like to do stuff using a graphical UI but since that varies drastically from one distro to another all the instructions and support is reliant on doing stuff from the command line. That almost was solved by Ubuntu becoming ubiquitous but then they lost the plot.
The UI or DE (desktop environment) is actually interchangeable no matter what diatro you’re on. But KDE is kind of moving ahead as the favorite it seems. The you have Gnome, which is what vanilla Ubuntu comes with… And that has spinoffs like cinnamon that come with Mint.
A few distros have really made the user experience pretty damn simple. I personally love EndeavourOS as it seems to be the best of all worlds for me personally. But for any of my non techy friends, I suggest or personally set them up with Mint more often than not Mint is a far better experience overall than Ubuntu in my opinion. But I greatly prefer the package manager (yay) in EndeavourOS.
Most of the time the frustrating thing is it’s users. If you look for help about something that is obviously badly designed somehow… You get gatekeeping or “you’re using it wrong” responses.
Search for hashtags then add them to your follows, that will show you any post with those hashtags, from there you can follow people that seem to interest you.
I never even used those because they let you use any image as a PFP before they even introduced those. I could have made my own Snoo and not had to use what they provided.
I don't know if the Chock kiss was as good as the Tholian Web. On its own, without 50 years of character context, probably not. But, with that context, it felt like the Toronto Maple Leafs winning the Stanley Cup.
As someone who has tried both and went back to pihole for no reason other than “why not?” – it works as intended, does everything accordingly and I have 0 issues running it plus 2x unbound dns servers.
In the same boat as you here. Tried both and went back to Pi-hole because “why not?”
Adguard does have homeassistant setup which was nice and easy, but I like to compartmentaliz my setup so if homeassistant goes offline my internet does not go out when adguard is down.
Since I started running pfsense on a custom PC with dedicated NIC, unbound has been my go to choice now for DNS and Adblock. I use Pi-hole on specific subnets now.
Are you writing a book or are publishing a book? Those are two separate things and if you search up the word authortube on YouTube you’ll get a bunch of people who are looking to publish and not many for fun. And honestly, most of them are not professionals and shouldn’t have their advice be taken.
Writing a draft is not hard and creating ideas isn’t too difficult (the snowflake method is the most popular way to create ideas from a singular idea.) It’s what comes afterwards: revisions (plot, characters, etc.), editing the words, doing those over and over until it is finished.
You don’t need to publish your first manuscript. It’s fine to just write a story or a few for yourself and later on decide if they are ready to go to a publisher or self publish.
Authortubers I like the most are: shaelinwrites, katytastic and Liselle Sambury. The first two both have degrees I think and shaelin is an editor.
It's so good. Once the other character shows up and you hear him talking and Grace starts making sense out of what he's saying it's like the book just lights up. That was a really nice touch.
Also, it looks like you were able to solve the problem, even if you aren’t 100% sure why. Maybe the difference in package versions lead to some problem with the bootloader, causing it to go to emergency mode, and updating it fixed the problem?
