I’ve never thought about this, but now that you bring it to my attention I think I’d go with a combination of mineral-flower, so for example “tourmaline-calendula”.
Also to automate that, I saw that there is this neat website perchance.org that you can use to construct random word generators, I’m wondering if there’s an open source alternative though, that would be great

I didn’t participate in the sub much but I did appreciate having a that view come in my feed here and there. And without having to invade a women’s space.

mekkagodzilla , to linux in Which DE would be a better fit for awesomeWM?
@mekkagodzilla@lemmy.world avatar

Do you need a DE? I use sway and a few kde apps (konsole, okular, gwenview, dolphin) + firefox and thunderbird, I wouldn’t call that a DE…

minicx OP ,
@minicx@lemmy.ml avatar

I don’t want to autostart all programs by myself, most of DE control autostart and dbus session by it self… Furthermore,DEs are contain settings manager etc

eshep ,

@mekkagodzilla @minicx Sounds like a job for .xinitrc, but if you think your reason for it is sound, and it does what you're looking for, go for it.

I don’t want to steal DE’s job :)

Jackthelad , to books in What are you currently reading?

Currently reading the Chronicles of St Mary’s series. I’m on book 10, which is the last one that I own, but I’ve really enjoyed the series so will definitely pick up the rest at some point.

It’s a series about historians who time travel to document historical events, so there’s an accurate telling of the story rather than things being disputed. It often ends up going wrong though. It’s rather light-hearted (apart from book 8 where everything goes a bit serious), and the humour is great. Similar humour to Terry Pratchett’s books, I would say, though I haven’t read loads of his work.

Thank you for this write-up. Your post is the only place I can find on the internet on making the transition to object storage specifically with Lemmy.

This part is bugging me the most. I often see the same articles posted here over and over again by these bots.

Pretty much just this. Well, and LinkedIn, but I don't post personal stuff over there. I moved from Facebook to Reddit about eight or nine years ago, and with Reddit circling the drain, am currently rudderless. Tried this Mastodon thing when it first got popular a few years ago and had no good experiences with it; this time around seems to be different with all the fresh blood. Just hope it keeps on keepin' on .

MoogleMaestro , to selfhosted in What is your machine naming scheme?

I always come up with a naming scheme and then immediately forget it either because I'm in a rush setting up a computer and forget to name the machine or because I get tired of trying to keep track of which machine is what.

lego , to selfhosted in What is your machine naming scheme?

I do Japanese city names and the drives in the machines are named after railway/subway stations in said city.

SupremeFuzzler , to selfhosted in What is your machine naming scheme?

I usually go with characters from the Discworld series. So far I’ve had a Rincewind, Ridcully, Twoflower, Weatherwax, Ponder, Librarian, Luggage, and Hex, plus a router called “The Clacks”. Really ought to get Vimes and crew into the mix, now that I think of it… maybe the next one will be Angua or Carrot.

ebits21 , to linux in How do you keep track of all apps you install and their configurations?
@ebits21@lemmy.ca avatar

Lately using Silverblue. Everything is a flatpak or is layered. Both are easy to list.

Maybe a handful of things in distrobox I need to keep track of.
