You may as well. Proton on Steam is really effective and with GE I haven’t had a game be unplayable for a while. I don’t really care for modern loot box gambling simulator paid public alpha type games though, so YMMV.
So, because Foza Horizon 5 was one of the first games to come out for the Steam Deck I bought it for my PC thinking it would run well. Turns out it won’t run with the current Linux Nvidia drivers and I had to get a refund.
I take it you’re aware of protondb and tried the suggestions there? There’s a few people reporting recently that it works fine for them. Maybe recent updates have fixed issues
Fedora and Debian are good choices. I’ve been using Fedora for more than 7 years and it’s still going. Very stable like Debian yet up-to-date packages.
I’ve been running Debian for about 7 years as well, never an issue.* I use it for browsing, photo/video editing, coding, gaming with Steam with no complaints. Fedora has always been tempting for it’s more up to date packages but Debian’s usually have all the features I need.
*I have had self-induced issues by installing .debs from strange places but never with the default repos or even 3rd party repos.
I noticed it posting like r/buildapc stuff; folks asking questions about how motherboards work and such.
Like, I could see mirroring r/news or something where people are posting news articles. But technical questions? If anyone on Lemmy answers the question, the original author won’t read it.
I never actually used r/ideacancer for anything but I think I might just open a community for it.
He’s a billionaire who owns a company that has pulled some shady (and illegal) anti-consumer bullshit in the past, I’d say it’s pretty unlikely that he’s a anarchist - more likely, the flat management structure and use of FOSS software is simply profitable.
Well for one it is not just a side functionality as the manager in chrome. It also is open source and was audited several time by external experts. And lastly it is super simple to use on pretty much any platform.
Ever wondered how other browsers like Firefox can import passwords from chrome without any password? Well, viruses can do that too. With bitwarden they can’t just read the passwords from disk because they would need your master password.
Disclaimer: haven’t been saving my passwords in the browser for a while so not sure if other browsers can still scrape the passwords just like that anymore
Long answer: the percentage of drivers that are outrageously bad at driving is probably a fraction of a percent. This still equates to a very large number of drivers, but there is also very much a bias at play. You only ever see videos of shitty drivers and probably never see videos of good drivers which skews your view of how good or bad the general population is at driving.
All this to say, yes there are a very large number of lethally dangerous drivers, but several orders of magnitude more drivers who are not. You just don’t notice them because they aren’t bad drivers.
The one that was lifechanging for me is audiobookshelf. I LOVE having full ownership and control over all of my audiobooks, and the ability to enjoy them on any device I choose.
It’s funny cuz I thought it would be much heavier and much thicker than a traditional phone too. But at least with the pixel folds hinge design, it folds pretty flat. Its not that much thicker than a regular phone.
The same goes for the weight. It’s not like double the weight of a normal phone. Maybe it’s like 20 25% heavier but it’s not super noticeable like you’re holding a brick or something. Over the past couple years I would definitely say you get used to it much quicker than you think and then it just becomes like a normal phone
My Pixel 6 Pro is already on the bigger and heavier side of normal phones so I could see myself getting used to a foldable fairly quickly, thanks for the answer!
I think deepfake porn is a bad call. Not only are you using nudes w/o the people’s permission to train the a.i. but you’re generating graphic content of people who don’t want themselves exposed like that
I would like to see darknetmarkets make a comeback. There really isn’t a way to find any darknet sites without being told about it. shoplifting would be a good one too esp since that subreddit always discouraged people from stealing from small businesses/encouraged ethical stealing which I appreciate.
I also think subreddits centered around conspiracies like pizzagate should make a comeback even though that doesn’t interest me personally.
I’m flippant on cringeanarchy. Before it was taken over by trolls, racists, etc, it was actually interesting. I’d like to see something similar but I worry it invites the same fate

Yeah, but not sure how some instance admins might feel about directly linking to the markets though. But the links aren’t that hard to find TBH, Dread’s address is on Wikipedia and they link to 8 markets on their site (once you get through registration and the CAPTCHA of course).
reddit has what, 100M users? lemmy only has 1% of that for now. so things will be quieter at the start, but i’ve found that people are more engaged here!
