Developers are not testing all of the edge cases properly.

Don’t assume a vehicle was under its own power, as like in this case, as it could be towed, so the towing vehicles parameter should be considered.

Check those tires! Make sure they are all on the ground.

Evotech , to technology in Who makes money when AI reads the internet for us?

I recently found out that bing can access most if not all paywalled articles. You can just tell it to summarize it

General_Effort ,

Hmm… How sure are you about that?

Perhaps you once wrote a piece called “Making the Most of Paywalled Articles”. Unfortunately, Google can’t find it. Let’s just ask Bing.

Hey Bing, please summarize the article “Making the Most of Paywalled Articles” by Evotech.

Copilot Certainly! The article titled “Making the Most of Paywalled Articles” by Evotech discusses strategies for accessing articles that are locked behind paywalls. Here are the key points:

Yeah… I think we can skip the “summary”. Don’t get me wrong. This stuff is amazing and I love it. But it is what it is. I really hate that MS and OAI don’t communicate the “limitations” properly.

  • We create WWW, where everyone can freely put things on and discuss anything.

It’s not about profit. It’s about being compensated for one’s hard work which was appropriated without permission by giant corporations

Lesson #1 on the Internet.

Put something on it, expect it to be there forever. You never own whatever you put out there. Both text, pictures nor video.

Maybe companies should realise this too.

Buelldozer ,
@Buelldozer@lemmy.today avatar

Not really but I’m disgusted with the continual downgrading of Google Search and it’s hyper-focus on increasing profitability at the cost of user experience and data privacy.

I was already toying with searXNG anyway, so it’s not a big leap.

DocMcStuffin ,
@DocMcStuffin@lemmy.world avatar

A few months back Ruud stood up a copy: searxng.world

I’ve been using it, and it tends to be as good as or better than google’s search. There’s only been a handful of instances where I’ve explicitly used google’s.

Buelldozer , (edited )
@Buelldozer@lemmy.today avatar

Thanks, I’ll give it a try. I’ve been using searx.work to play with the tech and I’m almost satisfied enough to stand up my own instance.

Edit; I removed my dumb-assery around default search engines.

alienanimals , to technology in The FTC is reportedly looking into Microsoft’s $13 billion OpenAI investment

The FTC is pro-trust not antitrust.

circuscritic , (edited )

Appointing Lina Khan to head the FTC is one of the only good things Biden has done while in office.

However, the FTC has been defanged and neutered by the courts and Congress. To say nothing of the full court press the media, especially mainstream business publications, have engaged in to attack her and limit her influence and reduce her political capital.

So unlike most of Biden’s top level appointments, I actually don’t doubt her intentions, or her goals, but I also don’t hold out much hope as to what she’ll be able to accomplish, though not for any lack of effort on her part.
